Nice to see Rust's offensive game coming around after a real slow start. I think he made a few moves last night that even caught Jake and Sid off guard.

These last two wins have felt pretty good, but asking your goalie to make 44 saves a game isn’t a legitimate long-term success strategy.

Sullivan needs to spend the entire next practice with everyone in their own zone working on clearing attempts. It has been abysmal lately, and the cause of most of these excessive shots.

You know what would help with clearing the zone? Not having JMFJ on the ice...

40 shots a game is bad. I do think the Oil took a bunch of very low percentage shots just to get shots on net and wasn't as indicative of their zone time like the Philly game. imo

Ulf. Good point. Not all shots are created equal, but at some point, a high volume of shots against is indicative of your team never having the biscuit.

Setting a franchise record for shots allowed in a period is no bueno. Especially considering the Pens once dressed a defensive unit of Orpik, Berehowsky, Tarnstrom, Melichar, Beregevin, and Focht

Emotionally satisfying wins with a little boost for playoff padding. And Murray looks like he is able to raise his left shoulder/arm at least as much as the dancers in the Thriller video when they do that shrug move. In that sense, they feel good.

But unless it’s a playoff series or you’re the Flyers, when a goalie steals a game so boldly as Murray has, I don’t feel good. All the stuff we’ve been stressed about all year (except maybe bottom line contributions) are just as bad, if not worse than ever.

But whatever. Get hot and healthy at the right time, and there’s a chance.

I don't think Blueger or ZAR should ever come out of the lineup going forward. If that leaves Simon out, then so be it.

But it isn't going to be between those two. With Malkin coming back from suspension it'll be Blueger that likely sits while Wilson gets a jersey. I don't hate Wilson, but I don't like him dressing while Blueger eats nachos.

They actually looked like a really good fourth line. I'd keep ZAR/Blueger rotating in the 3rd and 4th lines depending on which gets warmer.

I think we're all in agreement here.

Blueger had two really bad clearing attempts, but overall that line looked good. ZAR looked real good for this being his first game back. If he gets back to where he was when he went out, it'd be huge for us.
