I wish our guys looked to shoot as much as the Canes do. At least 3 different times, someone could have pulled the trigger in an open space but elected to pass instead only to lead to a turnover, including on the Canes goal. Kessel has a look there, why wouldn't he use his sniper-like ability?

Canes came out hitting, Pens came out dipsy-doodling. Canes came out shooting, Pens forcing low percentage passes.

Canes are kicking our asses up and down the rink. Maybe the boys will come out in the second period and give it the old college try.

The Canes probably take more useless* long shots than any team in the league...they just throw pucks on from everywhere and hope they get a rebound...it's not a terribly "good" way to play...

My post was more of a gut reaction to all the frustration with them passing up good shooting opportunities, only to allow a softie at the other end with under a minute to go.

They didn't literally kick the Pens' asses. But because of the Pens electing to not shoot, the Canes' neanderthal game plan of throw everything to the net actually produced a positive result. Frustrating.

I'd rather have useless long shots that might cause some trouble in front than passing up shots and trying to make the 'perfect' play...an affliction this franchise has had for years.
