It’s kind of amazing how many hat tricks have occurred on free hay nights.

in the Thrashers first few seasons I went to a Pens v Thrashers game and some call went against the Thrashers and the fans let fly the puck-shaped WebMD mouse pads that were that night's giveaway. I knew a few girls on the ice crew and they said those things were near impossible to peel off the ice. after that they never gave us the giveaway item BEFORE the game again.

Honestly, i liked how Riikola and Maatta played together, and I think Oleksiak is a better option than Johnson.

I don't think it's going to be better than that until Schultz returns. I'd think he slots in the 2nd pairing, but who his partner is can be debatable if Maatta and Riikola becomes a solid pairing.

I agree, when Schultz comes back you just rotate partners in practice until two pairs stick. Then that ~5 million in cap space goes to Jake's raise. Hope Pettersson can continue to improve.

Pettersson was excellent last night.

He really was, I attended sitting behind the pens shoot twice net, and during the second - you could really see how well he played his gaps and just how much ice he takes being tall and lanky.

Seemed very calm with the puck - didn't treat it like a hand grenade. Hopefully we get that kind of play from him because they certainly need some calming influences in that 3-6 group.

He's a very smart player...I'm very excited to get him. I think it's well known that I wanted to keep Sprong, and thought highly of his talent...but this I think will turn into a good swap...

I do have something nagging in the back of my head that this will cost us either Maatta via a trade or Riikola via, something, because they'll be seen as redundant in time...we'll see how that goes...you can only have so many LD that play the same style really...
