Like a broken record.. taking dumb penalties, not enough offensive zone time, not enough quality chances at even strength, and the usual bad goal leaks in. Plus, nobody in the bottom 6 has any points at all. I've seen enough of Matt Cullen.

Its not a make or break situation, but taking a spot that could have been used on a young, energetic player (Dea, Blueger, Johnson, hell even Lafferty) and instead filling it with Cullen should have been immediately dumb to anyone who isn’t part of the Dad circle jerk. There was just no reason to bring back a 42 year old.

That said, I'd more concerned with Grant (et al) taking away a look at Sprong in situation where we could have used a little scoring pop...hopefully Grant's (who I don't hate, really) penalty will cash him out and put Sprong in a place to just get some solid footing and start to earn his way...

Sprong has no chance to get back into the lineup until all the centers are back. Only then can he bump someone like Grant to the press box.... Maybe.

Sprong has to play. He's one of the few young guys with legit scoring pedigree. They are hurting for secondary scoring, and star-studded teams like the Pens are always looking for entry level help. The 2 Cups don't happen without the likes of Guentzel, Sheary, Rust, and certainly Murray. I don't see anyone besides Sprong right now in the organization who can give them that boost. They are certainly not going to get any scoring from that line of Cullen, Grant, and Vegetable Lasagna (can't even think of his name)..
