Eh. Haven't Crosby and Malkin done the charity season tickets for years now? My guess is those seats are already set aside for charitable reasons and the players just sponsor them.

I checked StubHub around 6:30 and almost bought $22 tickets but my couch was too comfortable.

interesting observation: The pens are marketing mini-packages in the Pittsburgh business times. This has to be the first time the pens have used newspaper advertising for tickets since the first year of the Crosby regime.

The Pens are also offering flexible packages where you pay for something like 10 games and you get to pick from a list of games as needed. They're having to get creative.

Most, if not all, teams do this.

Sure. And it's new for the Pens this year, along with other ticket selling initiatives.

Most teams don't claim to have an 11.5 year long sellout streak

No, but you won’t find a single NHL team where a sellout happens and there aren’t empty seats. I’d have to look up the actual definition for the NHL, but I’d bet on it simply being a percentage of sold tickets.

The sellout streak legit ended a loooonnnnnngggg time ago. There are tons of empty seats on a nightly basis most games especially during the week.

And, tickets given away. And dumped on Student Rush for huge discounts, etc.

Very good. I wasn't questioning sellouts, just pointing out that it appears there are more unsold seats at this time of year than there have been the prior 11 seasons, since this hasn't been a thing recently

I wouldn't be surprised though if there's say, 700 tickets left on gameday. the organization "buys" those tickets and then claims to give them to charity thus creating some kind of tax break for the team. I also wouldn't be surprised if just about every NHL team did this on some level.

We've been on the waiting list for a coupe years...hope we get a call soon. Ever since my old man backed out of the plan with my uncles, I've been to too few games.

I was referring to Skullmans post directly above mine, pointing out the empty seats.

They've started selling plans to the open public. There effectively is no list anymore. Maybe make sure your contact info is up to date in your Pens ticket profile.

The only thing the list gets you is a priority time slot when they start selling packages in July. When I couldn't find seats I liked this year I called and got my deposit back.
