Figured I'd put this here in case anyone is interested and not wanting to search the giant thread for updates.

I posted some updates on preseason action for Bellerive, Addison, Drozg, and Hallander today:

Guentzel appears to have been hard at work this offseason, reportedly adding about 10 pounds of muscle
Hope the added muscle doesn't inhibit his game.

He always seemed to me like he was made of rubber. Never seems to get hurt, even though he goes into the dirty areas.

He and Sheary seemed to be of similar build, and yet, Sheary was always falling down....Guentzel not so much. And Guentzel always seemed willing to park himself in front of the net. Maybe not Patric Hornqvist deep in the goalie crease, but he'll go there.

Hoping the extra muscle may help him better absorb some hits like this:

Hard to believe the Wilson hit there was probably the most legal of the 3.

Guentzel is an athlete, Sheary is a hockey player. The makeup difference can be subtle, but it's there...

I boiled it down to Guentzal being a much better skater than Sheary, but I should have boiled it down more to Guentzal being a far better athlete.

He's that guy that's just good at everything right away, ya know? It's like you invite him over to play a little game of touch football or whatever, and he's just dropping like 50 yard dimes and ****...he just gets it. Sheary is good at hockey (I know, I know) but I wouldn't expect him to do anything but ground into double plays in softball...

For sure. He’s the guy that has never done a certain thing that I’ve been doing my whole life and after 15 minutes he’s better than me and showing me tips.

I like to think of myself as one of these guys, but I’m not being truthful with myself.

I've tried to masquerade as that, and I just know that I'm not good even at the things I think I'm good at...

I've been playing in these intramural football leagues...I'm not even sure I'm athletic any more, much less good at stuff...in fact, I'm quite sure I'm the least athletic person I've ever met...

I like Schmaltz...he'll be in the league this year.
The Czech goalie isn't for this league...
McCarron should be a 4th liner...but I don't see a lot of skill there.
Puempel doesn't belong in the league...

Comrie...I have no idea. Just when you think he's coming around, he's not.
Wood is the fastest NJ Devil since Niedermayer...
Ritchie is a big power forward, so the Ducks will give him all the money he can handle I assume...
Nurse on a bridge deal makes sense, that way Edmonton can pull the rip cord on this athletic, but dumb player...

Theodore and Nylander are wagons.

I could see Buffalo moving Reinhart if someone wants him to fill a 2C spot...though, with his skating, he might be better as a playmaking winger...

Toronto is in a rather bad pickle next summer. They will need $20M+ additional space for Matthews, Marner and Nylander (current), plus their D will be empty.

The following summer (2 from now) Marleau's $6.25M hit comes off (and Horton's $5.3M IR-mess), but that won't help them next summer.

They could really use that $1.2M cap hit they are still paying for Kessel.

Signing Marleau was a good move.....before they landed Tavares. Now, he seems like an expensive luxury whose cap space will do more harm than his on-ice production will do. If the Leafs could dump Horton's dead contract, and move Marleau over the summer, they might be in good shape. But, Tavares at 11M, Matthews likely in the 8-10M range, Nylander and Marner both likely in the 5.5-7M range, and Gardiner being resigned for 5-6M a year.....they are going to be very top end heavy in salary.
