I think this is a win-win deal, I guess...more or less...Buffalo should want Sheary. I think they paid a very low price to get a guy that can produce with talent. That's more valuable than most people think. I don't think anyone held anyone hostage...

Sherry turned into a boiling vat of atomic suck noodle soup, and demonstrated it over a long period of time. I hope for his sake he had an injury or other explanation that might position him as anything but a reclamation project at a young age.
This is like other teams fans saying we were gonna just love Eric Boguniecke.

Hmm, you know that's a comparable I never really thought of...possibly because I blocked him and his 20 (?) goal season out of my mind...though, gun to my head, I think Sheary is a significant step better than Bogo...

Pouliot got a video tribute. It was a short one that mainly featured off ice activities, but he got one. No doubt Sheary gets one at least 100 seconds in length.

Essentially, we get a possible third round pick and then we get whatever free agents the cap relief provides. So far it's Sheary and Hunwick for Jack Johnson and a fourth or a third.

I understand where we all think Humwick and Sheary stink and JR fleeced Botterill. But look at this from Buffalos perspective....
They aren’t making the playoffs this year. They have a bunch of scrubs/minor leaguers to fill out their roster. They aren’t going to get a single legit FA unless they really overpay, and they won’t want to do that since they are a couple years away from making an impact. So they get a “top 6 winger”, which Sheary is in a way, and a legit NHLer to fill out their bottom pairing. All for around 5 million.
I know either guy isn’t great but the alternatives for Buffalo are way worse
Sounds great if both teams benefited from it =)
I know that we wanted to lose Hunwick's salary. But did we want to lose Sheary's as well or was it more that we packaged him with Hunwick to clear cap-space?
