I've read multiple times in multiple places this Karlsson "idea".

What do we gain? ~20 points and longer hair? If the defensive side of the coin is the question, Karlsson is not the answer.

I mean, even if Tanger were at his best, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Then again, if Tanger were at his best, we wouldn't have this conversation.

That said, Karlsson for Letang and spare parts is not gonna happen. A lot of teams would want Karlsson and most of them would be better trading partners for Ottawa.

Unless Ottawa needs the cost certainty of another RHS #1 d-man...then we become palatable...what if you're looking at your offers and go: the best player in any trade is Kris Letang. I think that's a highly likely scenario...highly likely. Not best asset maybe. But best player? I'd imagine so.

You don't know how that might be viewed by a team that needs to get off the mat...

Not sure what Guy Boucher thinks...coached against Letang in the same division (Drummondville vs. Val D'or) in the Q, there's a Hockey Canada connection as well...Letang as a junior player/Boucher as part of the committee to select junior teams...but he's got a lot of exposure to Letang...

Based on the limited info I have? No. But if the team is pretty confident with a, “he’s not gonna get it, ever” assessment, then yeah.

I had only mentioned Sprong because I don't really think Sheary, Rust or Kuhn carry much value for other teams so if we want to pry Karlsson away from the Sens it would take one of Sprong or Guentzel; which I don't think anyone would want to part with
