I saw more than one insane post elsewhere claiming that Daley, who never played with Letang, is EXACTLY the type of defenseman that would keep him in line.

I posted this in the game thread, but I don’t think trading for anothe defenseman or keeping Cole makes a lick of difference. Dumo was great. Maatta was good. Schultz was good. Rude Beetle was reliable. Oleksiak is debatably upgradable, but he only played at even strength. The issue on defense was Letang and no one was going to take his role from him.

Letang+ for Karlsson before the trade deadline... Solves both problems

Would have loved to have had Daley back.

Would have preferred to have had more healthy and non sucking forwards.

I was so spent after game five from directed my pure hatred at Letang that last night's loss was almost a relief. Murray kept us in the game, but that first goal was pathetic, and he should be ashamed.

I think firing Mike Bales hurt Murray more than helped.

I get that the Pens felt Bales was "Fleury's coach", but Murray seemed to benefit from him as well. Also, not having a veteran backup goalie to help Murray through the rough spots hurt.

The attacks on Om shall not stand. The Roman numeral slaughtering, while ill advised, was but a small contributor to Letang sucking.

Om is a dedicated member and Pens fan. Let it be known.

The Caps wanted it more. You could tell. That was a pretty lethargic for being an elimination game. We still could have won. We had chances.

All pretty much positives...minus Letang, of course, who scored the only goal for us if we want to rope that in as a positive as well...

I think the pressure was much more on the Pens in this series. Seems like the Caps might have been a bit looser, the expectations were done and all they cared about was beating the Pens. Fortunately, they year they do, they are facing a buzz saw in Tampa, and would likely have the Predators waiting in the FInals.

Sullivan for forcing square pegs in round holes with Simon, hating Cole enough to have him traded, for not playing Sprong and letting him learn at the NHL level.

GMJR, for trading Cole and not replacing him with another competent defenseman, seemed like we repeated the first year going in with 5.

I hated it, but there was nobody who could take that spot.

Kessel was a black hole, Sheary was garbage...Sprong had no real experience again. ZAR getting hurt did some serious damage.
