I actually think Letang has been very good in this series and was pretty devastated to see him blow it the other night. There was a path to a 3 peat starting to show itself with 20:00 left on the clock.
This is where I'm at. He's obviously not playing his best hockey, but he's what we've got and I don't think he's been that bad excepting a few obvious mistakes that led to goals.

Also seeing Sheary on the top line, I'd rather just keep Simon there and I hate saying that. Sheary has been mud.

It's unfortunate that his mistakes have been this costly. He's been on and off all year, but man, they're making him pay for it in this series.

These are small guys who are getting an extremely lengthy "first taste" of what an actual NHL season is like. Effectively no off-season, injuries, and deep playoff runs for three straight seasons. Something has to give eventually.

That would signify a lineup change after winning two straight elimination games, Dish. So I guess my question is: which RWer got hurt and allowed us to still win? If your answer is Kessel, I guess I'd buy that...it seems like he's being held together by maple syrup at this point...
Yeah, I know. I thought of that.

I'm not clamoring for Sprong, but he could help if Phil can't go. He's young and inexperienced, but maybe that means he doesn't know that he should be scared. :)

It's way too late for Sprong. Putting him in now is desperation mode. I hope Sprong gets a chance to work through his issues at the NHL level next year. If those issues even still exist.

I think he takes things harder than he leads on, and he was probably furious with himself. He won't let the media or fans know it, though. I'm hoping for a good night from him tonight as a result.

Hope is good, right?

Sullivan just said this about our emotional headcase, so he must be beating himself up:
Coach Sullivan on Letang: "I talked to him. I told him how important he is to our team and how good he is. He's helped this team win championships. That's the player we know & love. Everyone makes mistakes. You just have to react the right away and look to the next opportunity."

I got you. Pens in 7.

Enough is enough.
Correct thread/game numbering style shall carry the day!

Kudos!

I don’t think the locker room message is the same as the press message.

Seems like it wouldn't be a Pens/Caps series without some OT heartbreak for the Caps.

I hope the Pens make that happen in 7.

Let's just have a repeat of a combo of the 2001 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal with the 2001 Eastern Conference Semifinal. I'm good with that.

Looking at the Caps lines in practice....just not very good with Backstrom possibly out. The Pens should be able to shut down 5 on 5 play

How much of the defensive woes are them pressing because the depth scoring is not there?

I’d say 69%
