I loved Daley, but he had a lot of wear on his tires. What did he do in Detroit this year?

I mean, he didn't do anything really...he played better than Kronwall, Ericsson and really DeKeyser who was miserable this year...and, uh, yeah...that's about it. I also had a better season than Niklas Kronwall...

Not that this will surprise any of us here, the Caps, (well Caps bloggers) are hocking this beauty.

I remember feeling horrible after Florida in 96. Those damn rats. That team was stacked. Mario, Jagr, and Francis were tearing up the league.

1993 I was 12 and I remember feeling (mostly because everyone else told me so) that there was no way they could lose. So I felt weird when they did, and sad, but my prepubescent brain didn't fully grasp the magnitude of the loss. 1996 was a lot more devastating to me.

This feels fine right now. Two cups in two years. We're fine. I think Smeggy said it earlier, you could tell that they were spent from the start of game 6. You just knew they weren't in for it this year.

I see them getting beat here pretty handily by Tampa. Feels like they're going to have a second-round hangover with how much fanfare this is getting.

Avs would have beat the Pens in the finals.

weird how all of our 93/96 comparisons are lining up. 93 = sadness and shock. 96 = frustration and rage.

it would have been like '01 against the devils. we were top heavy on offense, but there would have been depth issues and a fishy group of D men going up against a historically stacked opponent. it would have been over pretty quickly.

We most likely would have lost but, we would have done leaps and bounds better than the Panthers. That one game (I think it was game 2) was pathetic.

That loss in 96 may be the most frustrating loss of any team I root for. Pens were superior but Beezer was a wall for the Panthers and the Pens with all those weapons tried to constantly make the cute play on the PP instead of getting dirty goals. And I can still see that pathetic play by Zubov that led to the backbreaker in Game 7.

That loss in 96 18 may be the most frustrating loss of any team I root for. Pens were superior but Beezer Holtby was a wall for the Panthers Caps and the Pens with all those weapons tried to constantly make the cute play on the PP instead of getting dirty goals. And I can still see that pathetic play by Zubov Letang that led to the backbreaker in Game 7 5.

we were "better" but not "superior" in games 1-5. in game 6, we were superior. they fielded a bum lineup top to bottom.

Well, it's been a hell of a run, but finally it's our turn. It's our year.

oh my. this is adorable. they think this series win matters and the "we can't beat the pens!" thing was actual rivalry and not just a novelty to us.

the odds of the ovechkin caps ever winning a cup are low. like...I'd pick some non-playoff teams before them. It's not like they had their worst reg season in years because they chose to do so. they aren't really that good, and they have nothing coming to change that. their best players are too old to still be effective once/if their depth gets to where it needs to be (and it probably won't). not to mention they have to deal with Carlson ASAP. They don't even get out of round one without him. he's a big honking deal. and he might leave.

they won their superbowl. they are now going to have to win 2 series against waaaaaay better teams (with the first healthy and rested).

they're f***ed. ovechkin is welcome to sign with us once his contract is up if he wants to go to the next level, though.
