So madden said that Parros and Wilson had a pow-wow before the playoffs to talk a bit about what would be "crossing the line".
I have to think after the Dumo hit in game 2, and then this crap in game 3 that part of the weight of the hammer was this conversation and a feeling that Wilson was given some slack after the Dumo hit because he was chasing and it was just a freak hit.... but he made them look bad and that was the last straw.
When will we get the Matt Cooke treatment here from the hockey media?... story after story of how someone has to "change their game" or something like that?

Half of the hockey media thinks his hits are clean so... never?

It was so clean that nobody even bothered to mention that he left his feet.

Heard that yesterday and just kinda shook my head. I couldn't help thinking that these guys like Parros love guys like Wilson...and want them to succeed in the league. It just seems so....... backwards. So madden said that Parros and Wilson had a pow-wow before the playoffs to talk a bit about what would be "crossing the line".

Looking forward to a Penguin getting hit with a 5 and a game tonight after a hit along the wall that a Cap launches himself head first into the boards because, you know, fair and stuff.

There's no point in arguing the hit with Caps fans. There are multiple videos and gifs showing how bad and illegal a hit it was, and they simply choose to see it differently.

I watched the NHLPA video and noticed while the video mentioned ZAR's broken jaw, there was no mention of concussion. The NHL continues to ignore the ugliest result of hits to the head.

That's because we all know the league wants Crysby and Mario to win so they do everything they can to help. There's no point in arguing the hit with Caps fans. There are multiple videos and gifs showing how bad and illegal a hit it was, and they simply choose to see it differently.

That DoPS video is a thing of beauty. My main problem with the hit (other than the obvious head contact) is Wilson using his left shoulder.

I appreciate that they called it on in the video that he switched shoulders to lay the hit. That DoPS video is a thing of beauty. My main problem with the hit (other than the obvious head contact) is Wilson using his left shoulder.

Canadians are old school as f***. I can't believe they elected a liberal president.

They love social programs and to be taxed...so...

Seeing older ex-players like Aaron Ward and Barnaby say the suspension is an issue, is the exact reasoning why we're still watching this happen on a nightly basis. The old guard really needs to go away.Friedman thinks it was clean. That DoPS video is a thing of beauty. And now Marek is saying that concussions are also caused by shoulder hits - point being why bother legislating head shots out of the game. I guess that's why I've literally never seen that. I'm sure it's possible. It doesn't ever happen. They love social programs and to be taxed...so...

they are. wilson is an artifact from a dead era. vegas, pittsburgh, nashville...we are influential. speed + skill > cavemen. and it's not good enough to just have that in your top 6 anymore.Seeing older ex-players like Aaron Ward and Barnaby say the suspension is an issue, is the exact reasoning why we're still watching this happen on a nightly basis. As a moron on HFboards said "His left skate is still on the ice brah!"It was so clean that nobody even bothered to mention that he left his feet.
I believe "launching" is a bit no-no in terms of what the NHL wants to see in a hit. If you leave your feet after a hit, and it's from you going upward... that's leaving your feet so far as what the league cares about.
They don't want jumpers.... and Tom Wilson (and Ovechkin for that much, as Kronwall was before them) are jumpers.

Fact: Ovechkin is the greatest jumper in the history of the sport.

Honestly, after seeing the incredibly in-depth video I don't know how anyone can defend the hit. They show multiple angles that clearly show it's not a shoulder to shoulder hit. A lot of these turds act like the force of the shoulder hit broke his jaw, even though there are multiple feeds of video that show his jaw being disintegrated by Wilson's shoulder.

the feet thing is such a dead end. a charge is a "you know it when you see it" situation. it's extremely rare that anyone leaves their feet prior to impact. in this case, he went airborne post-contact. he did. but that doesn't and shouldn't change anything. leaving feet shows intent. being propelled upwards after the hit shows that you were hitting up into the head and not through the body.
