This is officially not reviewable no matter when or where it occurs. If all scoring plays are reviewed, why wasn't the slew foot seen and the goal disallowed? Because not in offensive zone? Bull.

Should the Pens win it all again, I think every single Pen should spend their day with the Cup taking it all around the hometown, youth rink, etc. of a Capital.“Bettman’s agenda to help the Pens win in full display again!!!”
OK. Not bad, DOP(e)S. Now I can get back to fretting about Murray.

That’s not what they’re looking at...If all scoring plays are reviewed, why wasn't the slew foot seen and the goal disallowed? Because not in offensive zone? Bull.

My point is they should. A penalty should have been called on a play that led directly to the scoring. They review for goalie interference, why stop there? It's on video. That’s not what they’re looking at...If all scoring plays are reviewed, why wasn't the slew foot seen and the goal disallowed? Because not in offensive zone? Bull.

My point is a logical question based on a simple extension of an existing rule.

"Logical" and "simple" are to you what "peruse" was to me my whole life...you are in for quite a surprise, sir...

Nothing you said makes any sense.
Wilson tripped maata, the planet agrees on that.
The very next play led to the scoring chance.
If they review for offsides on scoring plays, and go into detail more painstaking than your egobabble, then reviewing for actual egregious penalties isn't far fetched.

That’s a spicy meatball

Moreover, the offsides could have occurred before 20 other plays ensued before the goal. The principle that the league cares about, apparently, is that an infraction can negate an ensuing score. That same principle is even more directly applicable to the slew foot scenario.
Sure, draw a line somewhere, but the current line could easily include egregious enabling penalties.

Offside - a new, and very unpopular review - is a stoppage and objective. There is a clear and concise rule on what offside is. Penalties - excepting rare things like delay of game: puck over glass - are highly subjective. So there is no precedent for reviewing penalties that negate scoring plays...I'm not sure that any sport has that.
It's a logistical nightmare. (How far back do you look? What kind of standard changes on review vs. real time? etc.)
It's a fan nightmare (this would drive down goal scoring significantly in a league that is trying to increase it...there are six goals scored per game, so you're adding a half hour to each game give or take...so now you're at 3 hours and 15 minutes a tilt for a regular season games. Even a 7 pm start has the three stars at 10:25 pm...and it's adding nothing but idle time)
It's a players nightmare (oh God, do I need to go there at this point...)
Then the precedent is to review for penalties in general...why just goals? Goals are circumstantial...what about scoring chances...Brad Marchand's slash the other night when he was loose with 2 and a half left...he didn't score because he was slashed...maybe...possibly...one might argue...now we're gonna look at that and do what? Give him a second chance...? Give them a power play...?
Not many things would actually kill an entire sport...this would kill. Murder in cold blood. An entire sport.

The DOPS explanation video actually did a hell of a job being sane and logical.

Yeah, I'm just grumpy about the Pens loss and a shitty week overall...when we win in six, we'll all be friends again...

Well they’re going through their annual playoff tradition of no one getting hurt ever, so they have options. So how do we think Washingtons lines will shake out?

I've seen Chandler Stephenson (lol) up with Nicklas Backstrom often in the series...assuming that that doesn't shift (loser player with star scenario), that would bump Jakub Vrana (slippery young player) up to the top line with Kuzy and Ovechkin...that's an offense-only line and very east-west...I'm not sure that Trotz is all about that life...
So maybe Stephenson up to the top line (or Connolly...?) and put Vrana with Backstrom and Oshie...their bottom six, sans Eller, is not very impressive in my eyes...DSP has no hockey sense, Beagle is Zigomanis, Chiasson is Kuhnhackl...nothing interesting...

I can’t complain about 3 games for Wilson, though when I think of the potential effect the hit may have on ZAR’s career, a la Kevin Stevens’ face plant on the ice, I can’t help but be enraged that Wilson is even allowed in the NHL.

I don't know much about Vrana but I've been impressed with him this series. I think our fourth line is superior for what it's worth

Saw a Caps fan dodinting because "Of course Shanahan suspended him. The Pens are the NHL version of the Patriots. The league does everything to help them."
I'm not sure how the Maple Leafs factored into the decision making process.
