I didn't get to watch, was there chippiness to the game? I caught a piece of the thread that seemed to imply that the flyers were doing some post whistle antics, judging by the Malkin goal, it pissed him off and he channeled that anger into scoring.

There was some chippiness, but not much. Simmonds tries to goad Oleksiak into taking a penalty, but nothing came of it. Geno got called on a slash that could have been avoided.

There were a few times where players like Gudas/Raffl/Manning where throwing higher hits but that stopped after awhile and the Pens kept coming.

That team legitimately looked different than any other game this year. Either they're giving full effort, or the flyers are that bad, or both.

At the beginning of the game the Flyers tried the finishing of checks/rough stuff that worked against the Pens in the past. After the 3rd goal they backed off.

Obviously agree that Game 2 will be a closer affair, but as others have mentioned, would be YUGE to get out to another quick start. Don't let them score first. If we keep putting quality shots on net, they are inevitably going in. Elliott does not have the talent to steal a game.

Aston-Reese also looked like a guy learning what it takes to be successful in the playoffs, quickly. He was all over the ice when he was playing.

Horny got cross-checked in the face multiple times after a whistle right in front of me. Blood clearly on the ice, but there was a delayed penalty just called on the Pens and the refs clearly weren't interested in evening it up. Other than that I don't remember much post-whistle silliness

I don't understand the first participle...

The rest of it: They were finishing some hits, guys that wouldn't normally make big collisions were doing so: Raffl, young Konecny took a bite out of Hornqvist...Gudas is always chasing people around aimlessly, so we gotta deal with that...but half these guys aren't even tough...just keep our head up and be quick, they keep pulling themselves out of position to do this...

Like, they actually did a fair job out-numbering or even numbering with us over the red...but then when he came time for us to get to the net, we could pass it around them or skate around them because they were trying to make a big hit...meanwhile, Hagelin is loose at the front for an easy tip...that's an end-of-practice tip...that's easy. Next thing you know, they're turning the lights out...

I'm skipping an engagement party to a wedding I'm in because of game 2 tomorrow...you can't fight fate. But I haven't missed a Penguins playoff game live in 24 years...it's not about to start for an engagement party, whatever that is...if you're my friend, you'll understand perfectly...

Bed time **** with the kids lasts from 7-8 every night. Without exception. Our dynasty overlapping with me having small children has been poor timing. Not to mention my kids are gonna grow up in the post-Crosby era. And considering where we live, if the flyers are good when we aren’t...things could go poorly.
