I'd skip my own wedding to watch a Penguin playoff game.

My wife, brother, SIL, and myself ducked out of one in '16 for this reason. I think it was game two of the SCF against San Jose. Bailed from the wedding at about 8:30.

I'm skipping an engagement party to a wedding I'm in because of game 2 tomorrow...you can't fight fate. But I haven't missed a Penguins playoff game live in 24 years...it's not about to start for an engagement party, whatever that is...if you're my friends, you'll understand perfectly...
I see that as a terrible move but respect your opinion.
Engagement parties are dumb in general and should never happen. If he was skipping a wedding sure, but an engagement party? That shouldn't even be a thing.
I don't see why they are dumb, they aren't obligatory, but I don't see why they aren't cause for celebration.

You are having a wedding. You don't need another party to ask for gifts. It's dumb. Just my opinion.

Bed time **** with the kids lasts from 7-8 every night. Without exception. Our dynasty overlapping with me having small children has been poor timing. Not to mention my kids are gonna grow up in the post-Crosby era. And considering where we live, if the flyers are good when we aren’t...things could go poorly.
I thought this was a Freddy post at first because surely a 1 hour bedtime routine must involve 6 or more kids.

Do you and your wife split the duties, or is it all for one and one for all?

I too worry that my kids will be missing the dynasty, but my 4 year old already knows Crosby by sight so he'll remember.

Bath + various negotiations to get things done + my son...who escapes his room unless you sit there and watch him for like 20 minutes. Things are complicated in the shmenguin residence.

Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Iginla (oh wait...)
Morrow-Jeffrey-Adams/Kennedy

Orpik-Letang
Martin-Niskanen
Despres/Murray-Engelland

Vokoun
Fleury

Or some such...that's a squad...

Adams and Sutter...

The entire team is disqualified. The ‘12 team was better than this one anyways (on paper). Adams + Sullivan + 6D were the only holes. Well...that and coaching.

While my daughter really doesn't remember much from the 2016 run, she certainly remembers last year's Cup win. She can point out Crosby, and also refers to the Stanley Cup as the Penguins Cup. I'm so proud.

I doubt anything will ever touch the 93 Pens. Lemieux, Jagr, Francis, Stevens, Tocchet, Murphy, Mullen, Ulf, Straka, Barrasso, etc etc etc.

I'd have to agree with this. That team, while they clearly underachieved, was stacked from top to bottom. They should have plowed through everyone.

Disqualifying a team because it has Brandon Sutter (who got us into the playoffs one year and scored after of our goals in the 2013 ECF the other year...not a big deal, seriously...not at all) is garage league...

It was tongue in cheek, mostly. But he was certainly inferior to the other 3C’s in question. and actually yeah...when the discussion is “best roster ever”, a guy who still hasn’t completed a forward pass at the NHL level does kinda disqualify you. No shame in it. But this is rarified air we’re talking about.
