I have no problem with this fourth line
Kuhnhackl is pretty fun to watch when he’s unleashed.
I said something last night along the lines of him being more useful when he has a more defensive minded guy in Rowney on his line.
So he spends 50 minutes a night on the bench for 2-3 years saying to himself, “maybe I’ll get to try stuff like that some day”. Seems like a rough way to spend a career.

And woo. Nice boring win. I like it.

It's a good trait to have in the playoffs, as we're aware.

But long term, it's hard on a fan's head, heart, and liver.

Nice W, 'Om.

Indeed. It was great seeing the team tighten things up a bit in front of him, too.

His old man was in the luftwaffe or something, so the ability is in there. He simplifies to stay in the league consistently, but it’s nice to take the cuffs off him occasionally to see what kind of moxie he has.

Watching the highlights, DeSmith has two things go wrong on him on the Stars goal - other than it being 5-on-3. When the puck goes to the goal line to his right, his initial post set up is a bit sloppy and his right leg isn’t in a good spot to react to a cross crease pass. When the pass gets through, he loses his edge and slips the first push. Then he is in full desperation mode and has to dive. If neither of those things go wrong, he might be all over that play.

I think the Stars had 6 or 7 shots on net after the first period. That was something

Agreed on previous comments about Kuhnhackl and DeSmith. I really like both DeSmith and Jarry. Wish one of them could go more than two games without turning into a shooter tutor though.

Thought the Brassard line played well tonight, just wish they were generating some more chances. That line is definitely a work in progress and I’m not sure the current iteration is the best version of it.

I could be wrong but it seems Geno is getting more ice time than he normally does in late-game empty net situations. Are they trying to help him to the Art Ross? Yeah, it's not important in the great scheme of things, but don't tell me the players are not aware of the race and don't care.

That's fine with me. I saw that Geno is only 1 point behind Kucherov after last night.

And only one goal behind Ovi/Laine for the lead in goals

I'm fine with Geno sweeping the Art Ross, Richard, Hart, and Conn Smythe trophies.

Not even top 100 though. But he's cracked top 5 for Russian scorers.

If this team is healthy, we’re disqualified from Hart consideration every year.

They’ll overthink it this year, but it’s kucherov’s trophy. He has a lot of help, but he’s stirring the drink on a potentially historically great team.

Which is funny because there's been a discussion about a Hart player not allowed to be on a losing team, so that disqualifies McDavid. But then you can't have a team with two generational talents, so that disqualifies Malkin...

Considering the Pens were out of the playoffs for a bit and Geno has scored something like 48 points in the last 23 games. This surge to first in the Metro has a lot to do with him. I'm not so sure he can't win it, he likely won't but he has a chance.

How about Mackinnon? I can't believe the Avalanche are in a wild card spot right now. *if* they make the playoffs, I think he'd have to get a good look.
