Yeah, I haven't taken note of his who has F1 defense responsibilities on this line yet...I'm quite sure Kessel isn't at fault, he seems like he's only used to manage the point or points, which is fine...when I look at it again, I'll stop babbling and come up with something...maybe...

Until then, after the hot start we got off to, it's a bit upsetting to be down two love...but that's the way it goes sometimes...more isolation plays on Polak please...bait him to the line, double stack the forwards there, that will draw Gardiner's eyes as he's always puck watching and then you can throw any old pass across the rink, even if you hit the side boards with it, we'll still have time to collect it and there isn't a player on this team that can't beat Polak back to his own net...find their weakest defensive center (Nylander?) and get our two big lines against them as much as possible...

Oh, Mr. Cherry highlighted the first goal...Dumoulin just wanders into where ever the hell he is going...our three forwards were all above the tops of the circles, so he panicked that the puck was...somewhere...and just went after it instead of just mitigating/managing risk until help came...

My rule: Two d-men never go behind the net. Letang went for a tour around behind with his man...Dumo had a same-side (dirty) dish on the strong side, but I lost track of what he did with it...I know what he didn't do, and that's slam on the brakes and get back to the net...whether that would hav been the right/best play, I don't know without looking again...but I know we got out-numbered going back to our own net which is a recipe for minuses...

Caught a wider replay. Dumo checked a guy all the way near the top of the right circle/right point.

That’s a very un-Dumo play. He typically doesn’t have a problem just standing around waiting for something to come his way.

Yeah, that was an Oleksiak-like play...Dumo and Maatta don't generally do that...but Dumo just got spooked, that's sometimes the difference or the delineator between whether you are a 4 or a 5 or 2 or 3 or whatever...not that one instance, but those are the things you look at it when you're really looking at a guy...

Things happen, no one is perfect. Let's get back to owning the puck though...those were fun times...against Polak too...he stinks...

Is a 2-goal lead still the worst lead in hockey?

This is not what I had in mind when I was on pins and needles looking forward to tonight's game.

I've had a crappy sports day so far.

I used to have stick-boys working the doors and why are those trainers standing around doing nothing?

So this Brassard acquisition hasn’t really moved the needle so far. I don’t see us playing any better or worse since his arrival. All that really matters is the playoffs but at some point I’m hoping he brings something to the table.

He's gone from "Gotta play defense" to "Gotta play offense".

It's going to take some time to change that mindset.

If the Pens keep this up, they will probably win the game.

Mind you, Derick Brassard has played for Guy Boucher the last couple seasons with linemates that move quite as quick as this team does...he had Alain Vigneault and John Tortorella before that, so not exactly the same deal...defensive Sens team, untalented Rangers team...that's his background. He gets dropped into this cornucopia of offense and he's got a guy on his left that didn't score last season and is now at a new position and then a guy on his right that does nothing but score for his career...there's a little learning curve there...

Plus side, he's not a rental either. This is a good player. I promise. Big Game Brassy.
