I actually like Cole and his treatment is one of the reasons that I have been critical of Sullivan. I am not happy about Cole being sent away.

Orpik on the other hand... I didn't poo-poo on any of the Fleury appreciation is past year... so that should tell you how I felt about Orpik's ability and value to this team. I still enjoy openly mocking him at Caps games.

Orpik is responsible for Handshake Gate, 2009. Guy didn’t like happy people so instead of celebrating he goes right to the handshake line literally minutes before it was appropriate. He won’t be facing that decision again, thankfully

I was always good with Cole on the roster and on the ice. I never felt, much less said, "why is Cole out there?" I think that Sullivan's treatment of him reflects more negatively on Sullivan than on Cole's actual ability. Cole is an impact guy and the Pens D corps will miss him during the playoff grind.

If one thinks that Cole was benched without GMJR’s permission, I think said person is nuts.

That, of course, is also true of GM’s and their relationship with ownership: they lay out a rough plan (and potential costs) of improving the team and get the all ok for the broad plan.
