The fabled pinball PP formation.
How do you think they do it?

I don't know.

What makes them so good?

TIL the Pens still consider Alexander Pechurskiy as part of the organization
Who says...?

Listed in the program in the prospects section with all of the other non-pros.

Hmph, odd...he was never even given a contract...and he's UFA age...I guess they're calling him a defected player...or the program is faulty...

Mikey, talking about how slow the Sharks are....who do you think the fastest team in the league is? We are still up there despite us seemingly not being quite as fast as last year.

Maybe Carolina?

Edit: I also think the Flames are pretty fast from the times I’ve watched them (which has been like 1 1/2 games)

Man speed or team speed? Like teams play faster than they even are to a man just on style. Vegas is a good example...they play really fast. Not to say they're without speed...Haula is fast as a goat, Eakin is a waterbug...

The Penguins are obviously one of the faster teams in the league, maybe the fastest...Hagelin is the second fastest player in the entire league probably, Rust is way, way up there...but beyond that, they also play fast...how many teams have four puck carriers that can carry 2+ lines? We have 87, 71, 81 and 58 who can all wheel with the puck, which is insane...so that allows for different neutral zone routes and then you talk about the layers forming in the offensive zone (that last chance from Kessel to Guentzel, good example of attack zone layering in a flash)...they're just tough to cover.

Winnipeg plays pretty fast...they don't as quite as much speed as we do, but the team is a wagon in terms of talent...so it creates speed...Nashville plays fast, their D just shorten the rink both ways...so everything is just on top of you, those D are so many more feet up...

Tampa too belongs in the conversation: Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Hedman, Tyler Johnson, come on, stop it...don't be ridiculous...team is silly fast...

There is a strong correlation between the teams that play fast and the well coached teams. Vegas plays fast because Gallant has them clicking on all cylinders.

Right. They're confident in their game and I call this "automation" with my group. I'll go into a practice and just talk about specific aspect of our game, let's say, retrievals out of the left corner...and we'll go through the scenarios: off of a same-side dump, off of cross-corner, when they're changing, when we're changing forwards, versus pinchers, versus sitters, one-touch outs, two-touch, three-touch, various lanes/layers of the partner/center, etc.

You want to cover as much ground as you can without being overload. You still have to play and play fast, but if everyone knows what their role is in a scenario and you practice the scenario, your tempo is high, you play fast...

We've seen a number of would-be odd-man rushes from the Sharks, potential breakaways even...they just can't get ahead of us...we catch all of them. We haven't been beat back to our own net on a rush chance yet tonight...

Timo Meier, you're a slug, buddy...I wouldn't have drafted you if I had 30 first round picks...

(I'm sure he'll have one go in off his ass or something now)
