Sigh...another listless offensive effort. Someone's getting traded soon and hopefully it's not someone that we like. But this team needs a bit of a wakeup call.

We’ve won so much over the past 2 years that the Wins and Losses right now don’t move me too much one way or the other. What bothers me is watching the opponents look like they are in playoff mode and we are in exhibition mode.

We just played 60 minutes of hockey after the GM slammed the team and we threw maybe 3 or 4 hits? And we looked like the slower and less gritty team for large stretches? That’s all about effort and energy. The Dumo turnover was killer but the more deserving team won tonight, I think that’s clear.

Yup, this is the tough spot for me. Were all of our back to backs front loaded in the first half of the season? Not that it's an excuse, mind you, but the NHL definitely put us on hard mode for this year.

Interesting albeit somewhat meaningless stat: if Nermal was competent and finished the Hawks game and also started against the Jets, Murray's GAA and SV% would improve to 2.60 and .917, from 2.95 and .906. Much bigger difference than I would've expected.

Experiment? What do people think this guy is? He's a nice guy, he tries hard, he loves the game. This is a legitimate NHL star or semi-star...he's not some science project...he was integral part of two championships, probably ought to have been the Conn Smythe winner in 2016, if he scored one more goal in that Final, he probably takes it too...

Since we got him, he's 25th in the NHL in goals (64), 19th in points (166)...and at $6.8 mil per year, I'm not sure how many guys ahead of him cost less...I mean, Alexander Ovechkin has 7 more points than him over this time span, at what, 1.5x the cost...? And he has Nick Backstrom and Evgeni Kuznetsov as center, Kessel spent a lot of time with Nick Bonino...Carl Hagelin on the wing...
