i dunno, I look at it as he figured he needed to win 2 Cups before feeling comfortable enough to make any waves.Classic case of a player getting a big contract and becoming a malcontent...
I bet he just started raising his hand in the video meetings this year.

I'm strongly against this. We won 2 cups with Sheery, not Sharry. He should accept the change...let's just say that's how Pittsburghers say it

Just realized, he doesn't have the two dots...he has that circle thing...OH-baer-ee (but really, really quick last syllable) is the best I can do pronunciation wise for Pontus Åberg...Ä doesn't make the "Oh" sound...so he didn't know what he was talking about to begin with...

Why does Jarry have Tom from Tom and Jerry on his mask when his name is pronounced Jarry is another good question.

Didn't some other Pen do a pronunciation change in the fairly recent past? I want to say that Despres when he was here went from see-moan to si-mon for his first name. Or am I thinking of someone else?

I think Zbynek Michalek went from Mick-call-ek to Mickel-lek...or some such...it was different than what his brother Milan suggested...

Alexei Morozov also became Aleksey Morozov in 1998.Kovalev went to Alex
http://www.lcshockey.com/issues/105/pit.aspNotice that Morozov now spells his first name "Aleksey" and not "Alexei." No real reason for the change.
except there was a reason...
https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/94882529/One of the most promising young players in camp is a Russian winger named Aleksey Morozov. He's not a rookie, however. Morozov simply has changed the English spelling of his first name to conform with the way it appears on legal documents.
