Niemi has been in a tough situation in that he's had to face top teams in the second night of back-to-back games. That being said, it seems like the team will need to rise to the occasion in order to get him a W, as opposed to Fleury, who frequently got wins for the team despite crappy performances by the guys in front of him. This could make for a very different W-L record compared to last year.

Niemi is difficult to play in front of. He is unpredictable, awkward, and plays the puck terribly. IF he has a turn around here, he will have to be better (much better), but also the team will have to adapt to him a little bit.

interesting strategy, though. using murray to get a guaranteed-ish win against a bad team and then forfeiting to tampa last night.

Man I really screwed the pooch when I said Niemi didn't look bad early when it was only 1-0 haha.

Going into the weekend set, I thought Sully would change it up and go Niemi in Florida and Murray in Tampa. Even held my bet on the Pens Friday night until the goalie was announced. Last night was the easiest bet of the year when Niemi got the nod. He's just not good and the Pens are gonna lose every single back-end game if they keep skating him out there.
