I know you said it, but I swear somebody else mentioned it, as well. Either way, I'm okay with the trade. Reaves is being undervalued everywhere, while Sundqvist is being overvalued (IMO, of course).

The payment seems a bit high at first but I don't care about a tweener and 20 spots in a draft where the guy may or may not have an impact by the time Sid and Geno are 35. Reaves is a great guy and watching him bulldoze people is going to be a blast. He is going to cross paths with Dubinsky, ****boy Wilson, etc. at some point and it's going to be so much fun.

If I was one of the dozen guys on this team who get their lunch money taken by the big kids every game, even if Reaves doesn't stop this (or even deter it a little), I would still looooove seeing him lay the bad guys out. It's good for morale. And morale isn't a small part of why we're the champs.

I have wanted Reaves for a bit now...strongest player in the league, major talker, capable 4th liner, he can actually do something from a security perspective in a league with almost no fighting, plus an instigator rule...he can skate well enough for a truck to hit your best guy and hurt him...

Just not a guy I would want to have to deal with...

This is a good point about hitting star players. Sid takes what, maybe two big legal hits a year? Reaves lined him up for one of the biggest of his career a few years back when he effed up his wrist right before the playoffs.

Sundqvist was a tweener at best and correct me if I'm wrong @mikey but he would have been waivers eligible this year so if he didn't make the big club it's likely we would lose him for nothing. With the emergence of Rowney as a 4L center and maybe bringing back Bonino I think that ultimately mate Sundqvist expendable.

Rutherford just said that signing Bonino was his priority, but I'm not sure about Cullen. There's no doubt in my mind that if he plays one more year it'll be in a Pens jersey, but I still think he calls it a career over the summer.

Lots of fans roll their eyes at the statement "he makes everyone on the bench a few inches taller" but it is 100% true. There are different ways to be tough to play against. You can out skill the other guys. You can out skate them. You can out physical them. You can out puck possession then. Grabbing a guy that adds an element the team was missing, while not dragging down other areas or his linemates...big win.
