I assume this is what Benz thinks he said while reading his lips at practice.

Great. Now anything less than a cup would be disappointing. Stupid sexy expectations.

Rakell has been skating forever and still hasn’t returned. I’m not sure I’ll take Sid skating as any indication that he plays soon. Returning from a concussion involves all those steps.

Day 1- rest
Day 2 - skate alone
Day 3- skate with no contact
Day 4 - rest
Day 5 - skate with no contact
Day 6 - skate with contact
Day 7 - skate with contact
Day 8 - return to play

This is like the best case scenario if he does indeed have a concussion and no setbacks.

The Letang, Sid, Malkin era ending a bit prematurely due to concussion/injury would be so sad but fitting.

I feel like we lost the series tonight. Sid is gonna be out and we aren’t winning without him and the other guys we are missing. I’m being a Debbie Downer and extremely pessimistic but this just feels like everything has turned on a dime. How fortunate are the Rangers? Sid, Rakell, DeSmith, Jarry, Dumoulin, Zucker all missing time.

Crosby missed game 4 against the Caps with a concussion in 2017. He returned in game 5. I don’t think it’s always that timeline.

Physical play is one thing I expect to see in hockey. It's part of the game. That being said, headhunting is something entirely different.

I'd like to remind everyone that Sid's long term concussion symptoms from the Steckel/hedman hits was caused by the original fracture in his neck and a poor job of rehabbing the muscles correctly - which caused vertigo symptoms due to slippage. A few weeks or proper rehab to build those muscles up fixed that.

To me, that saga is an untold story of a terrible and wasteful job by the Penguins medical crew.

Hungover, yes. Felt this way when Steelers LB Shazier was seemingly paralyzed mid game vs Bengals. Immediately stopped enjoying the game or being all that concerned with the outcome ……then had a feeling of malaise/resignation that without that key player the season going forward was going to be ruined or different. Everything changed in a millisecond.

The best thing about him skating today is that obviously there are no serious lingering concussion symptoms.

Another good thing about this is the fact that there isn't some other injury (neck, shoulder, jaw, etc) that caused him to leave the game.

Right. If he was fine, he'd be playing. They're not going to hold him out for precautionary measures in the playoffs.

Emphasis on the word serious.

If it were something truly serious, he wouldn't be skating at all. That's how I took the Sully comment that he's in a good place.. as in not seriously injured.

The Athletic just confirmed he has a concussion. As expected. But first to officially confirm via source.
