Two weeks isn't too long, but ends up pretty much being a full series in the playoffs.

We've seen players come back literally the day after they resumed skating. We'll just have to wait and see. And finish the Caps.

Coach Sullivan: "Sid skated this morning. He is in the process of rehabbing. We'll leave it at that. It's a day-to-day process."

Some doctor said rest for a concussion isn't the way to go anymore, and the recommend light activity etc. I think a lot of the protocols have changed over the years.

That wasn't a concussion, that was more of an atlas subluxation caused by the neck injury. Nothing wrong with Sid's brain on that one, more of a problem that his neck muscles weren't keeping his head steady. The symptoms are very similar to concussion symptoms.

A few weeks of PT on those neck muscles to help stabilize and he was fine.

Just a FYI to all interested parties. With Crosby's last concussion, the time between when he resumed skating and when he played again was nearly two weeks.
How much of that do you think was due to the tournament and the penguins deciding to take it slow to give Sid a bit of a break and be sure about things.

I mean I don't think it's two weeks if it's the playoffs.

True, assuming the two weeks was related to protocol, I mean for the start of the season, Crosby was skating before the first game.
Crosby has been skating regularly since October 11th, only a day after his concussion was formally diagnosed. Coach Mike Sullivan has mentioned that Crosby was close to potentially taking the next step in his progression, but logistics haven't been favorable. The Pens played 3 games in 4 days last week from Monday - Thursday, then traveled Friday to Nashville for Saturday's contest, leaving no opportunities for Crosby to hop back in for a regular practice.
I mean skating is part of the protocol - then I guess practice... sounds like early in the year but schedule wise it was going to be a bit tougher... now I wonder if back then the team didn't mind having Sid take a bit of time since he had just played in a tournament after a stanley cup run, whereas with the playoffs - that won't be an issue. Just speculating as to the two week thing... I don't think Sid plays Saturday - but who knows.

:face: So many replies about resting him even if he were ready because we're up 3-1. Its almost like a large portion of this fan base recently began watching hockey.

If a doctor clears him to play, he should play.

Conspiracy me thinks that he was held for precautionary reasons, and no symptoms materialized.

I could see it, at least from the team standpoint given his history.

Can hear the deafening silence coming from DC; once it sinks in that'll turn to soft moans and shrieking. I want to go down there so bad.
