There's not really any evidence that the platoon is drastically affecting Fleury so far this season.
First 9 games: GAA 3.00, SV% .909
5 games since Murray's been back: GAA 3.20, SV% .902
Murray through 6 games: GAA 1.68, SV% .945
Obviously the sample sizes are small enough that any one game can swing it significantly, but Murray's been better than both pre and post platoon Fleury.

I wouldn't really consider what's posted there statistically as evidence of anything really...

Maybe the team in front of him, if anything.

Dear fellow 5AF posters,
Allow me to preface my remarks by saying that.
That said, I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for the debacle that was last night's game-thread. I doubt I'll ever again engage, more appropriately indulge, myself, which is unfortunate, but then again I was born a long time ago.
Sincerely yours,
Stan 'Crusher' Stasiak

On the plus side, Maatta had a really good game last night against a speedy group of forwards. He even had a nice end to end rush where he blew past a couple guys. If he can continue to play like that our defense will be in much better shape.

Murray simply is the better goalie. No reason to sugarcoat it.

Yes, it's true. Fleury, sadly, is no longer the rightful starter on this team. Murray has proven he can handle a large workload. And the difference in their respective performance level is not because the team in front of them plays better when Murray is in net. I will say, they may play with more confidence when he is in net because he is good at getting settled in, which Fleury is not.Yep. Pretty much this.Murray simply is the better goalie. No reason to sugarcoat it.
When Murray is playing, I'm rarely worried that he's losing the handle on his control of the game. With Fleury, it's a matter of waiting for it to happen.

Wasn't really intended at anyone in particular, but this general feeling that Fleury, coming off maybe the two best seasons of his career, is toast and the guy with, what, 20 games under his belt is the savior?
And that very well may be true...it might be...but it wouldn't be the first time a sports message board reacted a little too quick for its own good...

Fleury is neither toast, nor is Murray the savior. Obviously.

I'm not saying dump Fleury on the side of the road. He is still a really good goalie. I just think that Murray should be getting the lion share of the starts from here on out thats all. It's nice to have two capable goalies though no doubt.

It's a defense mechanism. We all know this is his last season with the Pens so we're distancing ourselves now.Wasn't really intended at anyone in particular, but this general feeling that Fleury, coming off maybe the two best seasons of his career, is toast and the guy with, what, 20 games under his belt is the savior?
