I wouldn't say I'm a Jarry hater, more just I have my doubts that he can be the guy for us, but he's far from the biggest issues we've been having this season

that said, I wouldn't be upset if the team committed to Ned long term over Jarry

Maybe both but I just for some reason get the sense that sullivan is displeased with jarry

3 way trade. Jarry to LA, Ullmark to PIT, something to Boston.

Sign ned for another year to start 35. Get Blomqvist some action and then have him split time with Ullmark until ullmarks deal is up.

You ride the hot hand, that's Ned, not Jarry right now. Nothing to read into.

Looking at the standings they need to like run the table at this point the in these last 11 games... and get help to even try to squeak in right?

What about the recent short leash with oddly-timed pulling and the history of borderline irritable tone he's had in his pressers?

Maybe because he knows Jarry is better than his current play, which is frustrating within its own right?

I mean. If Jarry hasn’t proven he’s a guy you can’t win with this season, I don’t know what some of you expect.

Didn't we receive that up until the team imploded post-Calgary?

It usually takes ~ 95 points to get in. If we win all 11 left, that would take them to 94. would be a fun story, but whatever at this point.

FYI, if you've bought tickets or used TicketBastard to attend a game, the Pens sent out a survey regarding the in-arena experience.

I made sure to ask for more organ music.

kind of? but isn't him being bad for the last two weeks kind of disprove "consistency"?

he leads the league in incomplete games and is 27th in Goals Saved Above Expected per 60 (min 20 games). I know stats aren't everything but anyone who thinks Jarry is definitely "the guy" is kind of lying to themselves imo

I'm not saying he's definitely bad but even if we were a playoff team this year I wouldn't feel super confident with him as our #1 (particularly because he has pooped the bed in the playoffs in the past)

Nah. That’s not how it works. You can’t ask your keepers to save your bacon for 3 months then when they get obviously worn down say “you need to be more consistent.” That’s not how…anything….works

This hurt my brain. I assume you meant "If Jarry hasn't proven he's a guy you can win with this season..."

If the team in front plays like butt, it's hard to put all the blame on the goalie...

Ned has had a good year, but he's had some bad games as well. I don't think I'd say he's any "hotter" than Jarry right now despite his huge 1 game winning streak.

what is "obviously worn down" in this context? physically? because that's been an issue with Jarry anyway. Mentally? I don't really want a goalie who gets worn down like that

Jarry came into this season with question marks and...he still has question marks

Jarry's last start was against the Stars... where his own team put 3 behind him...

I agree that that game wasn’t his fault

but also that’s not the only bad game he’s had

I also appreciate how difficult it is to adjudicate goalies, either way, because of the variables (the team playing in front of him, the quality of the shots, etc). Honestly, how do Vezina voters typically decide who they’re gonna vote for? Is it mostly stat based?

Yeah, Jarry (and Ned) gave us every opportunity to be in this thing for the majority of the season. Have they worn out from their near super human levels (I mean, Jarry was in the Vezina discussion midseason)...? Yes. But I don't know what people are watching around the league if they expect more from these two in this situation...that's crazy.

For goalies that played over 15 games by Early January -- Jarry was 6th in GAA (.01 out of 5th); Nedeljkovic was 7th.

And for those that want that elusive "consistency"...the guys ahead of them, here's what happened after this sample for the next six weeks...

Talbot: 0-6-2, 4.35 GAA
Swayman: 5-4-3, 2.63 GAA
Hellebuyck: 9-5-0, 1.93 GAA (and he's your Vezina winner in all likelihood)
Daccord: 8-7-2, 2.45 GAA

Then the other guys around it, Hill got hurt; Lindgren resumed being more of a backup, he went 3-5-1, 3.30 GAA

I guess we should have gotten Hellebuyck somehow...but his extension is for more than both our goalies cost combined. So, you gotta deal with that...

Or...in place of always having the #1 goalie in the league, you could take another hack at how goaltending works in this era...
