Welp guess we’re cursed now. One of our owners touched the Cup without winning it. :scared: :scared:

Is there a date of interest when we could expect to see a Letang or Geno extension? Or at least have some idea that it ain't happening

Free agency begins 7/13 and I'd say Letang is gone if he isn't signed by then.

IMO Letang/Malkin are kind of dumb to not see the kind of offers they'd get before signing.

Which makes me think now, they're likely both gone.

Backstrom practically having a hip replacement bodes well for the Malkin/Ovi reunion.

Cale Makar wins the Norris (narrowly)...

Kristopher Letang was just a point out of 6th. Another strong Norris caliber season from him...it's his 8th top-10 Norris finish of his career.

Tristan Jarry received a single 3rd place vote (GMs vote, not media) for the Vezina

Placing him tied for 7th. He placed similarly in 2020.

This was Sidney Crosby's 17th season in the NHL. It's the third time he has NOT received any Hart votes (2020, 41 GP; 2012, 22 GP). He received at least one Hart vote in 2021 (55 GP), 2008 (53 GP), 2011 (41 GP), 2013 (36 GP)...this season, 69 but nothin...

They should then sign Jagr to complete the line.

As mentioned above, this is the 8th top-10 Norris finish for Letang. That said, in 2012 he didn't receive more than 5% of the vote, so let's discard that as noise (he received 28 votes, including four 3rd place nominations). So let's knock him down to seven top-10 Norris finishes...

Where that ranks all-time:
1. Bourque 22
2. Lidstrom 16
3. Harvey 10
4. Pilote 10
5. Chara 10
6. Orr 9
7. Coffey 9
8. Horton 9
9. Chelios 8
10. Potvin 8
11. Pronger 8
12. Gadsby 8

Letang joins the list at t-13th with L.Robinson, MacInnis, J.Laperriere, Park, Stevens, Weber, and Gonchar.

Players in this post that are not in the HOF, but are eligible: Gonchar.

I wonder if that level of detail (number of top 10) is considered by HOF voters. Letang is better than Gonchar but I don’t know if it’s still quite enough for the hall

Well, it's not really about considering this, per se. It's about the correlation of being great for so long and ending up in the HOF...

Every time I see Chelios all I can think of is, “C’mon Chelios you old ****, skate!”

Found it, chirps galore. NSFW

Some sort of dodint impersonator was surprised that Letang is one of the best d-men in the league and "threatened" to leave Twitter if everyone else thought he was one of the best. Now that person is welching on the "bet"...
