I mean...MAF turned in a 924 sv % and a 2.56 GAA in 15 games. Good numbers, but hardly the type of stuff you usually associate with conn smyth performances (rest of team performance notwithstanding up to that point, yeah, obviously a factor). Yeah, we don't get by Washington without him, but same goes for Murray and the season prior, who ended up a footnote for smyth chatter. Murray also finished 2017 with a 937 sv % and a 1.70 GAA in 11 games for comparison, so, not hard to see why Fleury had a mad short leash that year.

Also, Matt Murray was the clear cut better goalie at the time. Significantly and without debate.

It's tough to get away with this Fleury wasn't amazing stance for that run...he had a tough game and got pulled and Murray came in and played really well, but Fleury was insane in that playoff...

I look forward to when we relitigate this every year or so.

Wonder what could have been if the Murray boner deflated as fast as the Fleury semi. Maybe another cup.
