Oh boy. A true Pittsburgh theme night would take some wheeling and dealing, but a third line of Miller-Trocheck-Saad with Jarry backing up Gibson and Bartkowski eating nachos would show true dedication to the cause. We'll have to wait for the next Pittsburgh theme night... *vom*A RHS 3C, yes...So, I'm assuming the biggest need is a strong 3rd line C, no?
Losing Guentzel is very bad, but it looks like Crosby and Malkin are in that place where it doesn't matter who is playing on their lines'.

But, yeah, cool, Galchenyuk is out of the lineup (off the team?) even quicker than I thought...super...

is PO Joseph any good? did we trade Kessel for an absolute bum?
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
Yes, we did trade Kessel for an absolute bum. The jury on Joseph is still out, though.

FWIW, PO, after coming back from an illness (mononucleosis), has been outstanding, according to coach Vellucci.

Galchenyuk has a better chance at being useful to us by a large degree I'd say...I'll take a peek at a WBS game soon, hopefully..

I'm here to make everyone else look good...board wing man...

Yeah, it cashes out on Johnson while his value isn't negative, I presume...at the cost of some of our toughness...but I don't think we're designed to be tough, we're designed to be scrappy...Eakin and Megna, especially the former, qualify...
I never thought I"d find a JMFJ ditch deal that MR25 didn't like...and it's for the fringe-iest of players on the main roster I feel like...I thought I was the biggest ZAR backer (which doesn't take much) and I kinda like him as a 4LW...but man, there's a bunch of that guy in the league...
I'm also a bit puzzled by the vitriolic hatred of Reaves but the defense of ZAR in this case...
It's almost 100% because ZAR isn't being propped up as some sort of deterrent that the team absolutely positively must have on the roster, and ZAR's primary goal is to actually play hockey instead of stirring the pot and pissing the other team off (while playing hockey on the side).
I don't really see them as the same player but that doesn't mean I think highly of ZAR. I'm speaking primarily from a chemistry standpoint. ZAR-Blueger-Tanev has something going for them. Maybe if that weara off in a month or two, my answer will change.

Maybe Reese still sees himself as a skilled scorer. It hasn't clicked that he isn't that at the NHL level and that he needs to change what he does in order to remain.

No, I do not think ZAR is a skilled scorer, nor have I ever said that.

I think ZAR has largely adapted to his role...he's just a lesser version of Reaves...touch more offense, worse at everything else...

Are you ZAR? I said "...sees himself as..."No, I do not think ZAR is a skilled scorer, nor have I ever said that.

No but given how often you try to attribute things to people who didn't say them I was just playing the odds.

ZAR is what he is and that's fine. Reaves was advertised as this enforcer that we 100% had to have to keep our stars safe regardless of hockey ability (which wasn't too bad), and that just wasn't the case. On top of that we traded a nice piece (RHS 3rd line center anyone?? mikey?) for him. Nothing changed as far as deterring hits from big bad Tom Wilson.

All I want to know is if Schultz is out there. Doubt Dumo is, since he hasn’t skated yet, but Schultz could be.
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
I think the only news we have RE: Dumo is that he's no longer on crutches, which is a good sign.

Disbanding Reaves because our players still took some hits has similar logic to it as disbanding all police because there's still crime...
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
If you don't see the distinction of that being the #1 reason we were sold on why we should get him and the scenario you painted then we'll agree to disagree. Plus he seemed to be in the lineup about half the time iirc?

That doesn't make any sense.
