I think you pick the right day to put him on waivers and hope he makes it down...

I don't know what we could have done better really, so I also am confused by botched...but if he wins the job, put CDS on waivers, no one will touch the term probably...

I feel like we could have traded him and got something of value for him at some point

I mean, we could have. We were trying to develop him to be a NHL goalie and it isn't happening. It's tough to cut bait because he is teasing the hell out of us.

And he's only 24. Goalies aren't coming into the league as young as forwards are these days. It still takes them a few more years to get to the National

I suppose 24 is still pretty young. I wouldn't have guessed he was only 24 without looking it up. Seems like he's been around forever

I don't think unproven goalies have a lot of value. His value has now dipped further with waiver eligibility, which - if we believe in him still - benefits us. You sneak him down with Stolarz or someone and you call it a day...if he gets claimed, you give a nothing piece to replace him...or draft a 20+ year old Euro next draft...

Geno fessing up to some of his warts and apprenty calling Phil out for being a dingus.

https://theathletic.com/1192049/2019/09 ... ia-hockey/
Summary: Geno knows this past season was the worst of his career.

His wife and son were away from Pittsburgh most of the year. Gonch spent a lot more time in Dallas this year. Sullivan wasn't giving him as many minutes as he wanted (but Geno acknowledges it was the right call because he wasn't playing responsibly.) He and Phil were having problems because, in Geno's opinion, Phil was complacent/content with 2 cups. And then Phil kept putting him in the middle of his disagreements with Sullivan.

He wants a 4th cup and knows he has to pick up his game if that's what he wants. He's cut out alcohol, gotten a stricter diet, has been doing more stretches to keep his knee in condition.

Also a lot in there about his insecurities about his English and how he feels it holds him back with really getting to know the new/young guys on the team. He's good with Sid and Tanger but he's uncomfortable with the new guys. He feels like it prevents him from being as much of a leader in the room as he should be.

He probably needs to spend more offseason time here to strengthen his English skills, but I can't blame him for going home.

If by "try' you mean stop skating when you cough up the puck again and again and again... then yes Evgeni, you are try.

Thought that was a really good article on Geno. He seems to understand where he went wrong last season and I get the impression that he wants to make up for it in a big way.

So basically they should have traded Kessel earlier?

seems likely that he was going to stonewall most offers that would come in. so they were sitting there going, "we could have galchenyuk right now and put him with an uneven, sulking malkin as we lose in the first round or we just ride it out and make the move after it's become more and more obvious to the fans that kessel is a problem."

if he didn't have a NTC/NMC, this would have been a management failure, but in the end, things worked out how they were going to no matter what.

Now everyone needs to get a new Johnson jersey since he switched numbers... F'n Johnson.

Why was one of our assistant coaches spending so much time in Dallas?

Also, Geno's wife seems like a stereotypical psychotic Russian hot piece. He needs to dump her for a townie.
