Our drafting is really frustrating and, worse, very unimaginative...I need to be our U.S. guy soon because we're taking a lot of suckers bets...

I remember the exact moment I was done with Pouliot. He jump the boards for a shift without his chin strap snapped. I remember saying at the time that I wanted him gone immediately. Like. Don’t let him on the bus to the airport after the game. He was gone soon after, but not immediately

Tanger reportedly wants 5x8. So what's the holdup?

I’d be more interested in lower term and high salary, but I would take that. From both side.

See I would rather have lower salary and longer term. I don’t really care what letang is like in 4 years because we likely stink at that point anyways. Lower salary now gives the opportunity to create a competitive team now

Unless CDS is on a bury-able contract, I don't get why we're doing this before free agency...he's not good.

Hextall hasn't said or done anything to give you any reason to worry.

If I had to go through the FAs and give sign/not sign percentages:
Letang 50/50
Malkin 99/1
Rakell 10/90
Rodrigues 20/80
Desmith 20/80
Boyle 10/90
Beaulieu 0/100
Heinen 90/10
Kapanen 80/20
Domingue 5/95
Letang 50/50
Malkin 99/1
Rakell 10/90
Rodrigues 20/80
Desmith 20/80
Boyle 10/90
Beaulieu 0/100
Heinen 90/10
Kapanen 80/20
Domingue 5/95

I'd be way less sure on Malkin...

I think the longer this goes, the further under 50% it gets for both Letang and Malkin. IMO, if they wanted to sign here - and the Pens wanted to do, it'd be done by now.

I really don't think that's the case with Letang. I think it was generally agreed upon by both parties from the start that he'd go to free agency and look around...I think both sides have an understanding of what they want/will take. And he can choose to come back from it (he's obviously irreplaceable on the market, not even close, so it's not like we're going to spend that money on day 1 and preclude us from keeping him. I'm not saying he'll definitely come back or anything like that...but I don't think this is any deviation from the plan that's been in place for a while, as I understand it...
Malkin I'm less sure about because I don't know as much about that situation...

My theory is that Malkin agreed to wait for the letang decision, as that will impact what they can offer him.

Yeah I don't get the organization's infatuation with CDS. Not only is he not good, he's not reliable. 2 playoffs in a row, he wasn't available when they needed him the most. Good backups (like Ken Wregget was for example) need to be solid, and always reliable.Unless CDS is on a bury-able contract, I don't get why we're doing this before free agency...he's not good.

I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about what maybe Hextall thinks IS our #3 goalie. If he gets $900k on a two-way (probably not) then whatever...but regardless of this contract, I'm hoping that we shop around...including going to Europe. Because if you have CDS, you can take a gamble on someone that the amateur scouts liked but never got picked...our track record for goalie scouting seems to be higher end than any of the other positions, oddly...and, as expected with that, we've used those goalies to try to improve our actual roster, which lacks young talent that should have been drafted...
