Yeah, I'm not taking any of them over Guentzel.

Pacioretty was the 3rd LW

Tkachuk was the fifth LW

The lineup was put together by Craig Button. He’s a dolt who works for a Canadian network and put Americans on Canadian teams ahead of Jake and Rust.

Trying to think of lines when healthy:

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Zucker-Malkin-Kapanen
X-McCann-Carter
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

X could be, what, ERod, Lafferty, Zohorna? Am I missing someone incredibly obvious?

Also depends on if you want McCann at C or W. Could slot him with Malkin and bump Zucker down to the 3rd, and put Gaudreau at C?

X is McCann - he is not a center here anymore imo

I know why you grouped the lines like this but if this is how we organize our lines i could see the Bluegs line being more productive than the McCann line and ultimately having more shifts

I could see it being

ZAR - Blueger - Tanev
McCann - Gaudreau - Carter

I'm not saying right, wrong, or indifferent re: Olympic team...but once again this board is smacked in the face by the idea that other talented players play in the league...

I can see a case for ranking DeBrincat over Guentzel right now. Not Gaudreau, and certainly not Pacioretty or Connor. I take it you have all three ranked higher?

The Tanev news is disappointing.

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
Zucker-Malkin-Kapanen
McCann-Blueger-Carter
ZAR-Gadreau-Big Z/Rodrigues

I guess going into the playoffs

maybe move Carter up and Kap down

This is a solid squad and if our 2nd pair doesn’t turn into a pumpkin, I don’t know where there’s holes here ...other than maybe a 3C issue.

I dunno...maybe I’m still picturing sid and Geno from years ago which makes this an iffy take, but this is a pretty good roster imo.

Tanev is vital to this team’s success in the postseason.
