Yeah any players that were moping after the trade should look themselves in the face for playing like crap for most of the season. That is what caused the Jake trade. It was absolutely the right thing to do based on where the team was at the trade deadline.

Definitely. If you like the guy so much, you should have played better (easier said than done, obviously).

We're gonna find out at the start of next season how much they like Sully...

Theyre also highly compensated professional athletes. Quit being b*tches.

I say this not because of the media hoopla but because I watched them play in the game or two before the trade and the 3 or 4 games after it and their disinterest/malcontent was palpable.

They're also human. If a valued peer in your office who was friends with everyone got ****-canned, you'd probably lose some productivity too, or it would at least temporarily affect your attitude at work.

Jumping from a hotel balcony would definitely detach a blood clot.
Maybe AB threw him mistaking him for furniture.

Jake was their literal only chance to get prospects into the system.

The entire team could have played better and forced GMKD’s hands, they didn’t, it’s over.

Here's some good news: Reirden's contract expires after this season.

Also, jfc Ryan Graves is two years older than I thought he was.

it’s so sad that this is what we’re waiting for. Absolutely inexcusable that he kept his job all season. Statistically it might not be quite the worst Pens PP in history (I think the PP% is higher than the first Pens season in the 60s and is now a clip above the vaunted 00-01 team) but compared to expectations it’s easily the worst

Yes, he will be 33 I believe in the last year of his contract. At this pace though, he’s gonna be a buyout after next season

Graves was the first player we interacted with at the annual fundraiser thing this year. He's not 6'5" and he looks like a giant *****. That's my scouting report.

This is every bit as valid as a mikey scouting report.

Shoot him into the sun or, better yet (?), ship him to Arizona. Shoot him into the Arizona sun.

Sadly I don’t see Arizona taking that contract with the length of it. 6 f’ing years. I’m not gonna hammer Dubas because I feel every GM makes a dogshit deal like this…but how in gods name do you give that dude 6 years. The minute he was signed, everyone on this board who watched him at all (I wasn’t one of them) immediately said he’s trash

Well said.

It's a business, and at the end of the day that business is what allows them to receive the massive paychecks they get. No roster stays the same from year to year, and at one point or another, players retire or get traded. It's the same way at every level of every pro sport. For a few games there, some players were acting as if someone had died.

It's not just a player leaving - in this case it was a big player - but it's what your bosses see around you. I'm not going to excuse a two week AWOL or anything, but look at Crosby and Letang...two guys that are really working this year.

Imagine you're doing everything you can to get a project back on track at work, you're saddled with a bunch of flunkies and despite that, you're still pretty close given the circumstances. Then your boss comes over and takes your laptop away and says, "if you want to continue this, you can do it by hand...there's some pen and paper in the storage closet...if you can find it."

Your response is to sprint down to storage closet and pick up right where you left off? Or are you gonna sit for a few minutes and go, "what the ****" and stare at your shoes for a while...?

Now, eventually, sure you go get the pen and paper. And we've done that. But when you're in the room and you see a top line player go out and players that are primarily not in the NHL come back...it's tough. Again, I don't condone two weeks of listlessness...but this video game idea that the team is all these non-human beings that have no clue what's going on outside their on-ice bubble is a little silly...

I excused the washington game. It was a weird day. But my God, they no showed Boston, Edmonton, ottawa, and San Jose before finally actually making a true effort against the rangers.

After Boston they should have said ok enough pouting.

Not to mention they pouted the 2 games after the Calgary debacle too. Embarrassed in Edmonton and got a talent-based win vs columbus

I don’t think they pouted. I just think they realized the season was essentially over and then just backed off a half a gear. And since with this team everything is always on a knife’s edge, not playing near 100 percent effort is gonna lead to chunks of losses

That awful stretch of games also played into the whole "they quit on Sullivan" narrative, although their efforts the past several games would suggest otherwise.

He should stay home and watch them grow up. Preferably until they graduate.

St. Ivany will make his debut.

Penguins get to have exactly zero nice things. It's like players come to Pittsburgh and just get hurt immediately lol. This puts him in doubt for even being called up like Dubas had stated might happen.
