You know what? Kessel for Saad. Figure out a way to do it.
/I just like Saad.
Saad is only $800K less and 1/3 the player.

I don't know which question comes first...
"What the **** is that Pearson/Gaborik thing?"
or
"What the **** is /I?"

Maybe we could trick Edmonton into giving us Lucic for Guentzel

The gaborik crap was more or less, an I'm bored thought.
I doubt Kessel gets moved for anything anyone expects. If he gets moved at all.

Kessel for Karlsson. Easy trade. One has 2 cups one doesn't.

You would trade Kessel for, quite possibly, rental Karlsson...?
I mean, not that this helps Ottawa in any way, of course...but just from a geocentric perspective...

I mean, the coach could have pulled him out of the games and told him to get over the iron man streak. Why is everyone but Phil apparently faultless here?Phil should have taken himself out of the lineup late in the regular season to heal up& be closer to 100% for the playoffs. Would anybody argue that?

He was our best player in the regular season...he was the Conn Smythe winner in 2016 rightfully, he had like a 23 point playoffs in 2017...what traits were shown that he needed to be pulled or he needed to pull himself out of the lineup and not do the job he's paid to do?
Is this just "something negative happened, so therefore, in retrospect, this event should have mitigated a risk that was not reasonably foreseen" talk...?

No idea. That seems to be Maddens angle. Phil only cared about the iron Man steak so he kept playing. If he was hurt that bad they do have a coach that say something.

there was a distinct drop off in quality with 10 or so games left in the season. i think there was some replay people saw, and they're saying that was *the inujury*. i don't know about all that, but he did go down hill, sharply, late in the season. and he looked like a guy who was hurt. it's not really a hot take to say that there's a reasonable chance his playoffs were compromised because of his commitment to his streak (or his general competitiveness), and he should have restedHe was our best player in the regular season...he was the Conn Smythe winner in 2016 rightfully, he had like a 23 point playoffs in 2017...what traits were shown that he needed to be pulled or he needed to pull himself out of the lineup and not do the job he's paid to do?

Actually... a full season of arguably the games best d-man and a chance to re-sign for a guy who's value will never be higher and is on the wrong side of 30.You would trade Kessel for, quite possibly, rental Karlsson...?

Pens either get and keep a top 3-5 d-man or lose him after 1 year and then have cap space to play with. I like Phil but I don't see him transitioning to a lower line player as his skills decline.
I'd probably do that. Not that I think the Sens would ever consider it.

Does the distinct drop off represent that injury is still on the table despite what Sullivan said...? For the record, I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm being conversational because there's not **** to talk about right now...there was a distinct drop off in quality with 10 or so games left in the season. i think there was some replay people saw, and they're saying that was *the inujury*. i don't know about all that, but he did go down hill, sharply, late in the season. and he looked like a guy who was hurt. it's not really a hot take to say that there's a reasonable chance his playoffs were compromised because of his commitment to his streak (or his general competitiveness), and he should have restedHe was our best player in the regular season...he was the Conn Smythe winner in 2016 rightfully, he had like a 23 point playoffs in 2017...what traits were shown that he needed to be pulled or he needed to pull himself out of the lineup and not do the job he's paid to do?

Did the 273rd game just finally get to him...? Because games 200 thru 272 were very strong...very much stronger than Crosby's or Malkin's...I'm just trying to make sense of it myself...
