Notice how Hextall talks about trades in the “we could go either way” style as opposed to GMJR’s, “here’s exactly where we stand. That over there is my leverage being flushed down the sh*tter”

Waivers have been very interesting. Nobody is taking on any dollars.
Like, you'd have to think someone could use Ghost on their PP and think they could hide him on the 3rd pairing.

If you have a chance to get a top 10 (top 5?) shot in the game for a reasonable price, you take it...if you can find elite things, take them...
What's the most expensive thing to buy in free agency...? Goals.

Just saying that he doesn't really fit the mold that Burke/Hextall would be looking for. There's nothing that pisses off Penguin fans more than big guys who play smallMantha isn't gritty though

Mantha.
I'll admit I'm not 100% sure how his name came up, but I'll bring him in no sweat...that guy has an unreal shot, he scores without anyone to set him up...doesn't offer much else, doesn't have to...it's that good.

He could actually shoot a puck through a goalie's chest, killing them almost instantly...that sounds pretty tough to me.
But yeah, he's 6'5" and doesn't grind, hell, he doesn't even really try...but if you gave up something that we aren't really using, doesn't really matter, ya know...?
Pettersson, Sceviour, and a conditional pick (based on Mantha's production) if they're really in a hurry to move him...I'd do that in a second. If it's something that involves Poulin, I'm probably not paying that price...I'm going discount rack here or I don't think I can swing it...

Huh? English is a cakewalk compared to French or Spanish.

I don’t see much need for a Mantha type. I think, full health, we have a pretty strong group of forwards. “Full health” is a big assumption but ideally in the playoffs we’d throw out a lineup of something like:
Jake - Sid - RW1
Zuck - Geno - Kaspi
McCann - Blueger - Tanev
ZAR - Gaudreau/Jank/whoever - Rodrigues
I’m pretty happy with that tbh
though I can see the argument that we need as much help as we can get because there’s a 0% chance we’ll be healthy in the playoffs

on the blue line Tanger is gonna get some Norris votes and we know he and Dumo can run a top pairing on a cup winning team. imo what scares me the most is Matheson and Ceci on the second pairing; can they hold up through a playoff run? Idk. They’ve played well as of recently
Though I think with Petterson and Marino on the third pairing that’s an above average 5 and 6 and can hopefully help the second pair guys if they struggle

Replacing that 4th line C/RW would be on my wish list. Either by getting a 3C and moving Blueger down or just upgrading over Jankowski. Though Gaudreau seems fine right now. Zucker and Kapanen are both middle 6 guys. Get a true top-6 winger and bump one of them down and suddenly your bottom 6 looks quite a bit better.
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
I like Kapanen with Geno. Zucker, maybe, but then that means sliding McCann to C and he's been much better on the wing

Thats if you're comfortable with McCann at 3C. Which, man idk. He's a conundrum
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
I suspect this is all a bit of a moot point because we don't have much in the pantry to trade away
