I always liked Godard and coming off the bench to aid in Johnson's defense got big points from me. Less than a decade ago, but that game feels like a completely different NHL. There's still fighting and every now and then you get a Flames-Oilers shitshow, but that Pens team featured Cooke, Rupp, Engelland, Godard, and Asham, and the Isles had human excrement Gilles and Konopka to go along with Martin and Haley, who are still in the league but have toned down their bullshit. Much less room for the shitbrains anymore.9 years ago today:

Ah yes, the great Trevor Gillies. 57 games, three points, and 261 penalty minutes.

I wish we had a 4th line that Sully wanted to use out there. Seems like earlier in the year, we'd roll 4 lines much more consistently. What changed? The guys look a little gassed lately as well. I guess we should get Kahun and Bjugstad back at some point soon. I guess maybe then.

I thing losing Kahun hurts more than everyone thought. He was quietly making himself a place in the top 6 and being productive there.

More goals/60 than Zucker (0.84 vs 0.73), and points/60 than Zucker (2.43 vs 1.87) (MN #'s)
No opinion/conclusion posted... just numbers.

Lafferty and Blendisi were regularly getting 10-12 minutes a night. Lately those types of guys are getting 3-5 minutes. I guess I'm just wondering why HCMS trusted them a few months ago, and now they sit most of the game.

I think as the new call-up adrenaline started to wear off (Lafferty had 8 points in 10 games and has like 3 since) the flaws in their games started creeping in. At least with Lafferty he still has some room to grow, but there aren't really that many other forward options. Getting both Bjugstad and Kahun back should help with the 4th line.

The Kahun injury really bummed me out. He was just starting to really come into his own and become pretty dangerous. Hoping he comes back near the form he had before the injury

I agree. He was becoming the guy we thought he was when he came over. Also man did Rust - Malkin - Kahun just click or what. They were possession monsters as a line. The Kahun injury really bummed me out. He was just starting to really come into his own and become pretty dangerous. Where's the high glove side sv% because that's all that matters.

That’s why it is his net right now.
Let’s not over complicate this. The goalie that is playing better plays.

Are people really railing on him right now? Like that post says, prior to January - and even most of December - he was total ****. He has played very well since, for the most part.

He made Fleury expendable. People will always hate him

Those people are dumb. Murray was the logical choice between the two given the scenario, and Fleury landed another starting gig for a new club. It’s a business, after all.

Yes but Fleury smiled a lot

My only kibble here is that Murray didn't exactly 'earn' the job back. MS did his favorite little guy a favor and put him in and he's risen to the occasion thus far.
I can go back and pull posts if we want to go over it in great detail. I don't really care because it's working either way.

Murray has been solid and I'm in on him but Jarry still exudes more confidence. I love the stick handling. Great goalies right now. But it is a giant bonus that Murray is taking the job back
