Who? Mikey or Elliot Friedman?Isn’t he some undersized guy that is a courageous player? Plays bigger than he is?

A bit late to this party (been slightly busy) but I was more worried about Wings than Avs. However, a Pens-Avs series would have been tremendous from a hockey standpoint. Pens D would have likely gotten roasted though and Barrasso wouldn’t have been able to totally hold up the fort. But that would have been a lot better series than that 94-98 stretch of Cup Finals gave us.Like...what was your expectation against the 96 Avs though?I was completely devastated by that 96 team not winning the Cup. **** the Panthers.

The fact that the Penguins traded Sergei Zubov for Kevin Hatcher the next year makes me wonder if Chris Tamer was also the coach and scout of the defense

Ok, workout is over, got the towel...
I've always had time for Friedman and always wondered why he didn't get more of a chance in Philly...one, he's a really, really good skater. Four way mobility for days. He can stop on a dime and give five cents change...he isn't big, but like meow said, he's courageous, he plays above his weight class...it's not typical for a defenseman to be a hard worker, but this kid is a hard worker. He plays the game at like Tanev speed, but in my experience, isn't belligerent about it necessarily...he's also not as strong as Tanev is certainly. I don't think he's a world beater from a talent perspective, but he can handle the puck, he can retrieve it fine, he supports his partner well...he's got better hands than Pettersson and Ceci and Ruhwedel from my perspective. I think he might be - and this might be blasphemy - but I think he becomes the best skater on our blueline. He played RW against Boston in that sunshine game and, frankly, didn't look out of place considering he hadn't played forward since he was 9 year old (he just turned 25).
I think he struggles a bit with isolation plays because of the pace that he plays at. He's a firefigher, not a police officer...he's out there to hurry up and put out the fire, he's not out there to walk the beat and keep the peace (well, the intention of cops at least...). So he does have a tendency to rush things. But he's a real competitor, he likes to jump into the rush...he's not the talent level that Matheson is, but there's similarities there...we've kind of taken the leash off of MM to allow him to get his own dump-ins and pinch hard down the wall and all that...Friedman is all about that life.
So, you get these guys that are kind of able to play up and back because of their skating and their processor like Math, like Friedman, like Riikola, like even Letang to a degree, it can open up options...so you got Tanev is out there working hard, Lafferty is out there working hard, maybe you get Friedman in the lineup to work hard, it's helpful because that work becomes infectious...so I like this claim, like DD (probably) said he's RHS, so that gives you the ability to get someone like Ceci out of the way...and like I said, probably not ideal, but he played fine at RW against Boston over the weekend, so maybe he challenges a guy like Sceviour too...
The guy that drafted him wants another chance at him too, so I like that...he's not gonna be anything special, but I think this guy can play a regular spot in the NHL or even if he's just a 6/7 rotation guy, that's an NHL guy...

So this is my first year cutting cable and using streaming. Like 5 games so far haven’t been blacked out because of Philly and national coverage. So like I basically can’t watch the pens? Is that the deal? I don’t want to VPN or watch on my phone or laptop via a stream. I’m screwed?

Whatever the equivalent streaking version of Center Ice is would work.

Even with Center Ice or NHL.tv, games vs the Flyers (assuming schmenguin is in the Philly market) and national games will be blacked out. There’s no way around that other than VPN or illegal streaming.

Does whaetver stream service like Roku that carries NBC not air the games when they're on NBC or NBCSN? or is the live sports not included in that so those streams go away when live sports are on?
