Nothing really...just recalled Jim Hughson's enthusiastically saying his name in NHL 98...and then saw that he had an impressive production streak with Linden and Mogilny and was playing in Norway a couple years later...floater extraordinaire, but could have a talented sniper who was a big ol boy...

He was terrible.

He was the poor return for Larry Murphy. Terrible trade but from what I remember Murphy was the Pens player rep for the player's union and that had something to do with trading him.

Big shot, couldn't hit the net. Not physical, always took penalties. Scored more "own goals" than anyone I can remember. And he had a BIG azz nose.

We traded mironov 15 games into the 96-97 season in exchange for olausson and Alex hicks.

Mironov finished the year with 52 points and 18th in Norris voting, his best season in the NHL.

Olausson went right back to the Ducks as a free agent and finished top 10 in Norris voting that season...

Another interesting bores hockey reading tidbit... Josef Beranek was traded 5x, every player in every deal was a Penguin at some point (even if just on paper).

1993 EDM trades Beranek and Greg Hawgood to PHI for Brian Benning
1995 PHI trades Beranek to VAN for Shawn Antoski
1997 VAN trades Beranek to PIT for free
1998 PIT trades Beranek to EDM for Bobby Dollas and Tony Hrkac
2000 EDM trades Beranek to PIT for German Titov

LA sent Benning here for Coffey who we then flipped to Philly with Recchi for Tocchet et al

The Circus was briefly here but never played a game for the Pens. Instead, he was picked up by Nashville in the expansion draft.

I also forgot that he won a Cup with Dallas.
