I don't know what you do with the structure if you kept it even after the new rink was built. It was a great piece of architecture but not sure how you would have repurposed it.

Yeah there were a few plans that popped up. I remember reading one about an indoor shopping plaza. It would’ve just ended up being sad.

As the days and weeks go by with little or no improvement, this looks more and more likely to me.I doubt we see hockey again this year at all.

It was definitely bitter sweet. The old place just had that buzz to it that oozed hockey. But the concourses were so small and the Pens would not be here if not for the casino money.I'm still one who believes they should have saved the arena but I know I am in the minority.

Third post in a row, I know...
I've been watching the old Cup films and they're all fantastic. I especially love the 91-92 Against the Odds video.

The Ole 29er looks like Jagr's stunt double.

KLS was never a third line.
Is that why it's the best of the three listed?

It is but it ain't winning. Lots of people too young to remember that line voting.KLS was never a third line.

I'll always be a fan of Straka.

w/o looking, who did they trade him for and who did they trade to get him back? I don't remember what team(s) he was on in between the two stints with the Pens. Panthers? Senators?

Yeah, if KLS was the 3rd line...what was the 2nd line?
Brown-Wright-Morozov? Get out of here...
The 99-00 and 00-01 aggregate ES-ATOI numbers are as follows (as I thought Titov was a part of that mix before in place of Straka):
1. Jagr 16:42
2. Lemieux 16:20
3. Straka 15:46
4. Kovalev 15:41
5. Titov 15:01 (oh ok, there's Titov already...)
6. Lang 14:23
7. Stevens 13:50 (32 GP)
8. Hrdina 13:40
9. Beranek 11:45
Tough to find a way to spin KLS into a third line, as we know...

Uhh...I think we got Norm Maciver from Ottawa for him early on. He of expansion defenseman fame. Then I thought we claimed him back off waivers at some point from Florida...and then I firmly (I think) remember the deal to LA...it was for Martin Strbak and Sergei Anshakhov (or some Russian prospect that would never come over)...Strbak probably played a Lupaschuk's worth of games for us and likely went back to Romania or New Zealand to play hockey...w/o looking, who did they trade him for and who did they trade to get him back? I don't remember what team(s) he was on in between the two stints with the Pens. Panthers? Senators?

I'm thinking MacIver and... Troy (?) Murray... ?

To Ottawa for Maciver and ABM. I don't recall if the Pens included anything else though.
Pens got him back as an UFA, I think at almost league minimum (from Florida).
After a while, the Pens eventually traded him somewhere for a prospect that never played. LA maybe?

Troy Murray...? Like, that Troy Murray or some minor league scrub that never played...? I know we're towards the beginning of my sports fandom as a human, but I don't recall Troy Murray being a Penguin at all...

Troy Murray, confirmed. Damn, I'm good.
