He produced at that same basic rate that you're talking about with less ice time, and nobody liked that...No, it just would have been nice to get any kind of production from that guy while he was here lol. He was given the time here to produce and he did **** with it.

Jakub Vrana has 5+1 in 7 games with the blues, averaging 14:00. Some people liked the idea of parting ways with a 7th to have him for 2+ seasons at $2.5M

Yeah, I think in a video game world, no one had a problem with that...but it was just a question about what the off ice looks like with him...no question he's a talent...

Well if you were asking me to trade Kapanen with Granlund. I'm pretty sure I would have kept Kapanen, I think. He produced at that same basic rate that you're talking about with less ice time, and nobody liked that...No, it just would have been nice to get any kind of production from that guy while he was here lol. Kapanen's point production was fine for the role and amount of ice time he was given. My only complaint with Kapanen was the size of the cap hit. I thought they could have found a guy who could have produced similar results for much cheaper - but that's easier said than done when you have no players in the system who were ready to step in. I was pleased that someone took him in a trade, only because it will clear cap space for the future.
Vrana is a pure talent, but there are underlying issues there. Granlund was likely the best 3rd line center available for the price they were willing to pay. He'll be fine, but again, I keep circling back to the 5m cap hit, and the fact that cheaper guys are out there.
People seem to forget (especially on the other Pens board) that the 2015-2016 Pens were in a similar situation (underachieving forwards and a crappy bottm 6) until a trifecta of perfect events took place: the trades of Scuderi, Sutter, and Perron for Daley, Bonino, and Hags. Secondly, the hiring of Sullivan. Third, the infusion of youth from WBS when players who were familiar with the coach were slotted into bottom 6 roles and flourished. Hextall tried to rework the bottom 6 with very little cap space and zero help coming from WBS. Lightning was never gonna strike twice like that. It rarely does. The best we can hope for is that this team gets healthy, Jarry finds his all star form, and they go on a run like they did in November. Stranger things have happened, but it's obviously unlikely given the age of our stars and the strength of the opponents we will be facing.

OTT - 69 GP, 71 points, 0-5-1 in their last 6 although that probably guarantees a win tonight.

They just need to get to their game. Nothing to worry about.

The Senators have the same amount of wins as us now...

Now you have Chris Mueller tweeting out that Sid probably wants to go and the Pens should grant him that wish.
What a turd.

Former MSU player, had a few cups of coffee in the NHL with Nashville, Dallas, and New York. Finished his career in 2021 with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
That's who you're talking about, right?

It's just angering how people say stuff like that, like the Penguins never did anything for the guy and it was all Crosby. The Pens surrounded him with talent for the entirety of his career, I don't look at anyone owing anything. It's been lucrative for both parties to a high degree.

Great, me too. Go score a goal...

It would be so fitting for this team to lose to Montreal and Ottawa and then turn around and win against Colorado and Dallas. I'm not writing them off just yet. Snakebit teams can break out of a slump at any moment.

They looked that good on Monday though they were playing the Blackhawks. I was there in-person.Colorado isn't *that* good...
My observations: Rantanen is huge and the Hawks are God-awful.
