Carolina seemed to be trending upwards. They still lacked a 'tender and some firepower, but...

They have a great top 4 and little else. Solid group of forwards but nothing special.

They are two elite forward talents away from being a legit Cup contender. Francis was doing really well. That defense is redonk and I don't care that he had a bad year Darling/Nedeljkovic would be fine with me in a year or so...

Two elite forwards away, yes. In other words: not close.

Meh, that's a glass half empty look. You hit on a first and swap one of their many extra defense assets and you're right there in a flash. A Sergachev for Drouin type deal wouldn't set Carolina back at all...and that's one. Then if they're at 10 or 12 or whatever this year, that could very well be two with all the d-men available up high...it's not farfetched at all for me, but I have been bullish on Carolina for longer and harder than anyone for a bit now...

Murray back in net at practice. It’s a St. Patrick’s Day miracle.

No Penguins game this weekend. Hasn't happened all year.* That's kinda...weird.

*excluding All-Star weekend

It's weird to me that there is no game tonight. I feel like there has always been a game on St. Paddys.

Pierre LeBrun@PierreVLeBrun
Carolina reached out to Pittsburgh regarding AGM Bill Guerin a few days ago but he politely declined to get involved in the process. Timing wasn't right for him.
Who is going to take a GM job after Francis, who was doing fine, got shitcanned and the owner made statements about wanting to be more involved in hockey moves ala Cuban with the Mavericks? The answer, of course, is no one.
And get paid peanuts- the rumor is the next GM is being offered only $400k. When the average salary is around 1.8-2million.

Why?
Was this where you heard the rumor?
Tom Fitzgerald bowed out of the CAR GM sweepstakes.
That makes two candidates to remove themselves from consideration
Guys are dropping out because they are only offering $400k a year.

Ha

A) No - reddit.
B) I didn't scan back because I'm actually working, kind-of.
C) Deal with it, because it's a giant thread things get lost in the mix.

Because I needed to prove that I saw it on reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comment ... ll_offers/

Yes it does.

Jarry reassigned to WBS, so it sounds like Murray is good to go for tomorrow.

jarry has the ability to go on more of a sustained heater. i could see him pulling a hero act and saving a series for us. but i can also picture him vomiting on his goal crease every 17 seconds.
