Who would have thought that while fans were still vocal about getting some shrimp of a player for Ryan Whitney less than a week earlier, so odd conditional 5th/4th/3rd round pick heading out for some old guy with a grey beard would end up being such a big return for such a small cost for the Pens. Guerin's unique personality and outlook kept everyone in good spirits and added a much needed smile to the players faces.

Dismissing the Flyers camp speed bump, he came back to Pittsburgh after only a few weeks and has been a big part of the management team ever since.

Frederik Tiffels on waivers today...

Unconditional waivers......for purpose of terminating his contract. According to Taylor Haase of DK Sports, he wants to go back home and play in Germany with his brother.

As a 6th round pick who turns 24 in May, and spent the majority of last season in Wheeling over WBS, I don't think he was going to break into the NHL with Pittsburgh. Blueger, DiPauli, Angello, Wilson, Dea and Johnson all likely well ahead of him in the pecking order.
