I'm sure the Pens will throw him a retirement celebration and wouldn't be surprised to see him head up to the booth for a period and call the action one last time, preferably on TV. But yeah, would've been nice for fans if he had a proper last game, though I'm not sure he would want that attention on him instead of the game.
Side note: removing him from TV in favor of **** Steigerwald goes down as top 5 worst decision in the history of the franchise.

Wasn't that a decision made by TV rightsholder and not the Pens?I'm sure the Pens will throw him a retirement celebration and wouldn't be surprised to see him head up to the booth for a period and call the action one last time, preferably on TV. Yeah. I’m not much of a fan of Lange once the century turned and he got…less than.
But it would have been cool to see him do a televised game just one more time. Screw the radio thing.
That’s not how it works, but yeah…

Yeah it was a Fox Sports Pittsburgh decision. Didn't mean to imply otherwise.Yeah. Also looks like Lange will be doing plenty of VO work so he'll still be part of the presentation at least.

Not a fan of the Twitter scribe using 'Mikey' here. Like, they probably shouldn't introduce that usage on his way out the door. Unless I'm missing something here.

But she has a blue check. Not but really she's a Pens employee as the team reporter so she likely has that relationship with him.

The Pens used it in their announcement tweet, she just repeated it. Not making it into a huge deal, just seems out of place.

Phil Bourque would call him that often as well

This news wasn't that much of a shock, but it still really has me bummed out.

Yeah, I mean.... back when I started watching hockey the way I could get most games was on the radio, and even then full of static. It's the only way I heard "Lord Stanley, Lord Stanley, Give me the Brandy!"This news wasn't that much of a shock, but it still really has me bummed out.
Unlike some here I don't mind the new guys. They're just not Mike Lange. But who is?
He's looked frail for the past few years. I hope he's OK.

“Scratch their name on your fabled cup” though. I was disappointed with the word salad final call in 09. He had better stuff in the tank.

No arguments
…but really. That line was so un-spontaneous. I wanted something more raw. He had it in him. Dude can bring the authentic emotion. That was something he wrote 6 drafts of and ended up with ick.

He’s better than Mears. It ain’t close.
Steigy’s best was better than Lange for 10 years or so.
Lange was the best, if we’re comparing peaks.
