Once you go through the arbitration process, if it’s under 4 million I believe, the pens cannot walk from the contract. ZAR would get one year at that priceWhy? Filing for arbitration is a fairly neutral maneuver.Let him walk

Agreed. You always worry about consistency with the big power forward guys. I’d love to see what he can do being in the lineup for 30 straight games.

I don’t remember…is big Z like Derrick Grant who doesn’t know that he’s actually bigger than most people and plays like a coachable puss, or does he use his size?

Yeah, no issue with him in spot duty...it's tough to keep that going, as meow and I have referenced, for extended stretches...

I thought he was good in limited action. Looking forward to him getting more games in and seeing what his ceiling is.I don’t remember…is big Z like Derrick Grant who doesn’t know that he’s actually bigger than most people and plays like a coachable puss, or does he use his size?
These fringe NHLers with decent size and speed must know that if they added some agitator/pest/jerk traits to their games they’d stay in the league for a long, long time. Guys like Angello, Lafferty, Zohorna, etc would always have a job in the league if they had a little Tanev in them. Maybe not here in Pittsburgh but somewhere else in the league.
If I’m 6’5 and somebody tells me I can make millions and millions of dollars playing 7 minutes a night and hitting everything that moves, being an agitator on the ice, etc I’m doing it even if it’s not in my nature. It’s something you can directly control (unlike goals and assists).

I actually very much enjoyed having Grant on the team. Big body 4th line center that can think. You could do a lot worse. He used his body really well for positioning and not for banging. I do get that some don’t like that flavor of fourth line center, but it is a legit one.

I only like players that are useful. Craig was quite useful for like a 2…maybe 2.5 season stretch. After that, well, we know how that tale ends. You probably liked Craig Adams tooI actually very much enjoyed having Grant on the team. Big body 4th line center that can think. In the 09 run, Adam’s had two moments that I would put in the top 10 of important moments during that run. He helped smother the game 7 scrum after Fleury did his damn thing. He also scored like 17 seconds after we scored a PPG against the Caps in that game 7 that we put a touchdown up.
