I was going to say this. We have really good fourth liners. They just happen to be on the third line currentlyDon't add fourth liners ever. Add middle six players that push players down to the 4th line...

That was the second to last time I shaved my beard. I did it before 2OT. Wish I had one to shave for game 6...Speaking of Sykora, I’ll never forget this game.I thought it was Kunitz-Crosby-Guerin, Fedotenko-Malkin-Talbot, Cooke-Staal-Kennedy in the Final.
Sykora was with Malkin, but I think he got hurt...Malkin definitely assisted on one of Talbot's goals in game 7 with a takeaway...

Dumo - Letang
trade target - Marino

Long ago memory...but one of the depth guys on Detroit, I'm thinking one of Helm, Maltby, or Cleary high-sticked Scuderi...someone will have to check me on that though...How did we end up with a 4 minute PP?

I'm not saying you have to trust Matheson, but what do we think we are...? Are we a Cup contender all of a sudden...? We were sellers after blowing a 3-0 lead to Philly, now a week later, we're buyers after beating Buffalo...Matheson has been the second best d-man on the team this year, and the guy ahead of him is in the Norris conversation...so, we're not trusting that guy, maybe we ought not to be buying at all...I don’t trust Matheson and Ceci into the playoffs. Imo ideally we haveWe don't need dmen.

And I'm not saying this because I believe Matheson's soul has been saved...I'm just saying, let's look at what we're really doing here...we're talking about adding a top-4 d-man at the deadline...that's Poulin out the door. So, is that really where we want to go to upgrade on the guy who has been our second best guy on the back end this year...? I don't know about all that...

Roll the dice with Matheson’s up side. Keep a no-upside guy like Petterson at 15 mins a game. We aren’t gonna win with a controlled plan. Gotta get lucky with some guys over achieving.

I always felt the only thing those guys were doing were shutting down was any chance of getting the puck past the blue line. Detroit had a field day of puck possession in the Penguins end when those guys were out there it seemed.I was willing to give the Conn Smythe to Talbot after the finals against Detroit in 2009... Gill and Scuderi were also great shut down pair if I recall it correctly

I still don't think this team is in any way shape or form to make any sort of deep playoff run. I don't think trades do anything to change that. They could get lucky and get on a roll, but this team still isn't that great. They are as likely to lose to Buffalo the next game as they are to beat them again.

What we’re the odds we would win in 2016? We had got swept in the first round the year before. I feel like when we’re favored we falter, so if we not expected to do **** then we do better
Or that’s how some idiot on ESPN would describe it so it works for me

Preseason odds and changes aren't equivalent...

One Eric Staal, please. Ok, throw in Taylor Hall. Fine, we'll take Tobias Rieder, too.
Here's, um... Marcus Pettersson and 2nd round pick.

Guess he had a habit of doing that...Uwe Krupp scored in OT on a shot from the blue line.I did mean the 14-15 season, but christ, it happened twice?

Satan was sent down at the deadline. Reported to WBS, played a handful of games there. Consummate professional. I never was a huge fan of his until the way he handled that.I thought it was Kunitz-Crosby-Guerin, Fedotenko-Malkin-Talbot, Cooke-Staal-Kennedy in the Final.

Sykora struggled early in the playoffs and eventually lost his spot to Talbot. The 4th line was adams with a mix of sykora, Satan, and dupuis. They went 7D for a handful of games as well and got either Boucher or Goligoski in the lineup.
I remember sykora had been healthied for a few, got back in during the final, played his dick off on the 4th line and broke his foot blocking a shot. He was hobbled for the hoist if you remember.
Don't underestimate the importance of Sykora, Satan, and Boucher that year. Three vets with pretty successful careers who humbly served as role players.

I still have the team photo framed on the wall at home.
Gill-Scuderi
Eaton-Letang
Goligoski-Boucher
Really nice well rounded 6. They ran gill/scuderi 22 minutes a game against the top line, and into the ground on the PK.
Except against Washington they matched Gonchar up with OV. He always played really well defensively against him. Gonchar was one of the dirtiest players around, but sneaky dirty. Man I really loved that guy.

Yet it was Ovi that blew up Gonchar’s knee. Probably helped more than it hurt the Pens in the long run though.
