Greatest players to play for the Penguins:

1. Lemieux
2. Jagr
3. Crosby

That's a given, right?
Greatest players as a Penguin...? Or just anyone who put on the uniform for us...? Assuming the former, it's Mario, Crosby, Jagr for me, in that order. Three top 20 players in the history of the game...

It's been a while now, but do you recall on LGP the all-time draft that we did...?
Given the question of greatest Penguins of all time do we only include their time here or their entire careers? I’m assuming only their time here or we may end up with Iginla, Morrow, Marleau (I’m sure I’m forgetting some other forgettable stunts here)
LeClair?
Leads the Pens in goals thrown into the net from a sitting position.

I think the intent (as it is at least 95% of the time) it's their career value as a Penguin...otherwise, I'm gonna get a lot of mileage out of Andy Bathgate...
I like the value angle. I’d be curious as to everyone’s opinion on Gary Roberts. He made a HUGE impact on that young Pens team that was just coming together, same with a guy like Billy G. I’m not saying I’d put them in the top 20 but from everything that was reported at the time, those 2 guys had massive impacts on the team and especially Crosby.

I'd agree with this. Not that it counts, but Roberts is well known for helping players over the summer with his training regimen. A number of Pens trained with him.

If we're going by value to the franchise, the entire 83-84 team should be added to the Penguins Hall of Fame.

Luc Robitaille.

To me, the Top 5 best Pens are Lemieux, Crosby, Jagr, Malkin, Francis.

PS - I still wish MAF was with the Pens. One of my personal all time favorites.

No love for Bryan Trottier? 6 cups as a player...

Lemieux, Crosby and Jagr should be the three best players that have played for the Pens almost however you count...

I love Trottier, but his best years were with the Isles. He helped win 2 Cups here, but he wasn't even what I'd consider top supporting cast at that point.

Gary Roberts played like 60 games as a Penguin...regardless of protein shake game, he really doesn't qualify here...with all due respect to him and what he's about...

He's great, but to me he's an Islander.

He only spent 2 1/2 years as a Penguin. It was great he won the cup in 2 of those. He's more of a bottom tier "Ring of Honor" type when it comes to the Penguins. Definitely one of the all time greats for the NHL and definitely one of the top Isles.

I know Francis spent 2/3 of his career with the Whaler/Cane org, but he also spent 8 of his most productive years with the Pens so I see him as different.

Btw, with Trottier, I remember when I was a kid, in 1991 I thought he was "old" with the way he looked physcially. But in reality, he was only 1 year older than Malkin is now, and 2 years older than Sid at that time. And I still see Sid/Geno as "young" with regard to how they look physically.

How perspectives change as you get older.

Very interesting to see the all time leaders in points of the Pens. I probably never would have guessed the guys at 12 and 14 were that high up.

Names to consider: Kehoe, Pronovost, Coffey, Fleury, Barrasso, ...

TIL Pittsburgh is only one of three franchises with four 1000-point players. The others are
Chicago
and
Detroit
.

What's funny though, he looks the same at 65 year old as he did at 35.

He is a young looking 65 year old, but was an old looking 35 year old.

Athletes in the 80s all looked stupidly old because of their stupid mustaches.

Hopefully one day someone will unseat Ramzi Abid for top of alphabetical order. Dude sucked so bad he doesn’t even deserve that.
