I think it was Brodeur who said something to the effect of...when you see those 3 coming at you, step out of the way because you know they're gonna score on you.I feel bad for anyone who didn't get to see the 68/66/10 line on the ice. I don't think there was ever a better line in the history of the league.

Rakell and R. Smith have not been great this season, but it's silly to think they aren't good players and can't be productive, be it here or anywhere else. Rakell especially looked really good early in the season, the lack of goals was nothing if not perplexing.

Oh right. Congrats on not dying from your second stroke.I assume it's the Masterton. I don't think he's won any other individual awards. What trophy is the bobble head is holding?

why are you guys so mean to Tanger
mikey's Thread of Penguin Randomness
I agree completely, but they do have some value. This team needs guys who can shoot, and they're dead in the water if they don't acquire a few. If that can't happen, they might as well just be sellers and blow it up.I honestly don't think Rakell/Smith are worth much, meaning there's no impact player coming back.

Random thought - how have we had one all star game in the Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin era of life

Because it's not supposed to be a punishment to go to an all-star game...for a lot of that time, it was a poorly-equipped building, and then early in this building, the ice wasn't very good...
Pittsburgh isn't exactly an attractive place, and the area directly around the arena is basically a zero...

Yeah, the Burgh definitely has its share of quality places, but the arena "district" certainly ain't one of them. Not that other areas are that far away, but still, immediacy matters for big out-of-town events.

does anyone have any idea what happened to the ancillary development that was supposed to have accompanied the new building or was that never set in stone?

The Pens sat on their asses for 10 years promising to do something but really just swam in parking lot money. Then they were forced to do something. That became the new FNB building in the civic arena lot. Supposedly there will be retail and restaurants in the ground floor…does anyone have any idea what happened to the ancillary development that was supposed to have accompanied the new building or was that never set in stone?

So when they showed Jake, I noticed no cast or brace. I know the lip readers thought it was broken wrist. Clearly not. So what is it? Shoulder again?

Didn't they confirm pinky? Or was that more internet rumor-mongering?

ulf should make an injury thread for that kind of thing.

They also built the cap over 579 and supposedly there is a live nation music venue coming across the street, but we’ll see if that ever happens. The Pens sat on their asses for 10 years promising to do something but really just swam in parking lot money. Announced development there that fell through included a new U.S. Steel headquarters and a Punchbowl Social.

At this pace, it looking more likely that the pens are going to be in a lottery position in the draft and likely will want to hold onto their 2024 pick. The question is if we trade Jake and recoup a 1st rounder this year
