I used “only” because I expected it to be higher, considering they’re 3rd in points (5th in winning %) but have the 8th highest probability to win the cup
that said, I don’t give “probability” stats any weight because they effectively mean nothing (like the dumb AWS NFL “this pass only had a 0.003% chance to be completed!!! Can you believe that??” bullshit). I just like shitting on the Rags

How long have you watched hockey?
Shouldn't you know better than to say "Oh well this team is in (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in the league, surely they're the favorite" considering how difficult it is for those top teams to actually win come playoff time?

just because a top team doesn't win doesn't mean they don't have the best "chances" to win. I was observing that their current record and the probability don't alignHow long have you watched hockey?

idk, it feels like yall have a knack for overanalyzing not-that-serious comments of mine

Probably because there's a trend of you making ridiculous galaxy-brained takes across the board? And people have consistently tried to understand where you're coming from, but you double down on them?

There's some dumb **** about emergency recalls that might come into play here...I don't know. That or playing Harkins four minutes a game means that we were going to have 11 F anyhow, might as well get one of the other young D into the lineup...

I guess. Or try someone else who's not Harkins.

According to this, our Pens have a > 0% chance to win the whole thing?

There's no one else on the roster at the moment, I don't believe...
I'm not as sharp with the CBA as I used to be...so this could be some absolute gibberish. But I think maybe doing this allows us to call up someone else that makes less than $850k tomorrow...
Again, that could be some covid **** that I'm mangling...

Kessel will forever be one of my favorite Pens, even though he only spent a few years here.

Watched the highlights of the 2nd and 3rd periods last night, cancelled ESPN+. This team isn't worth $10/month to watch.

The team is really losing the die-hard fans right now.

They seem like they don’t care. Most likely they’re just old. A working PP would put a bandaid on a lot of issues but it doesn’t fix whatever is wrong with the team.

that's the most frustrating for me. I was skeptical about the Karlsson add from the beginning. I think he's bad defensively and his stats show that while last season was absolutely insanely good, his previous seasons were nowhere close to that. you would think that with the legends that we have on this team, we'd be at LEAST top 10 in PP% but no, only Philly and Chicago are worse. this team reminds me of some of those Sather-led Ranger teams where they'd get multiple stars but still suck. They seem like they don’t care. Stellar goaltending combined with a highly effective power play can carry a team with an otherwise flawed roster. In fact, with the conference being wide open this season and several of the top teams struggling, this team could have gone very far with a great power play. To me, that's the frustrating part.

The PP is the biggest factor, but I'd also argue at this point they are a one line team, and their old. I don't know if it was sitting in the arena last night, but man they looked slow too, and just generally apathetic? The first period outside of the first couple shifts was one of the most low energy periods of hockey I've ever seen.
I dunno...they seem to have no moxie. Something bad happens (like the Rakell goal getting over turned), and they just wilt.

Paul Maurice first intermission interview said it all for me.
They asked if he was worried about his teams lack of offense in the first and he said "no, we know this is a huge game for pittsburgh so we just want to keep it simple and wait"
Essentially wait for us to **** up.

the alt cast was crap but they did have a good point at how a bad PP affects the game beyond just the time on the PP because the Pens become sluggish and the opponent is energized after killing a penalty
yesterday was a good example. I think we blew our third (maybe it was only our second) PP while the game was still for the taking and the Panthers got their first two goals right after it. With the butterfly effect, who knows, but at least a PP that would make the Panthers sweat would’ve been more effective then our inability to even enter the zone cleanly

The PP is actively giving other teams momentum at this point. Don't think anyone can deny that.
