I ordered a new hat from PensGear and they tossed a freebie item in the box:

I feel like we have both ends of the spectrum here... Some hate it all, some love it all, a few are in the middle.

I won't pretend to know what may happen, but I don't think we got fleeced per say on anything...so I guess I'll just wait and see. I don't love/hate any of the deals that much. I don't necessarily like that we keep getting older and older and slower, but it is what it is as far as that goes.

What if I were to tell you that the remaining cap space would be used for the Drew O'Connor callup and, hell maybe even allow a second callup

I think Hextall turned on the auto-GM feature for the trade deadline and forgot to set a limit for defensemen.

I think its a START. They got rid of all but one bad contract, marginally improved for 2022-23, and retained what few assets they had for a potential summer move. I feel much better about the franchise today than I did a week ago

I don't love it but I just don't think it justifies the hate it got. Maybe a B from me. Team is better than it was a week or two ago and has a better cap situation

I don't hate it all. End of the day, I do think he managed to improve the team on paper and somehow managed to get himself out from under bad deals and free up some more space for the offseason, while also pissing some of that cap space away by eating the full cost on Granlund. I also think, based on other deals made around the league, the opportunity was there to get younger, faster, and grittier for not much more trade value and it was (potentially) passed up in favor of aging veterans. Thankfully, Granny is the only one on the roster for next season.

The opportunity cost was definitely a negative. This is going to be an important offseason

The biggest issue is no reliable backup. I mean I know if Jarry goes down we are boned anyways, but just to have someone better than CDS would be nice.

I think the thing here from me, is did Hextall do enough to save his job? Coming from what he did, to what he came to, which in a vacuum was to undo what he did earlier. I would think he didn't and that's a-ok with me.

He ended up doing enough to not severely damage the team going forward, considering he could have done a doozy.

Well, if that's the case, then so-be-it and none of this matters anyways. I'd prefer a analytics focused GM who isn't afraid to take risks, but that's me.
Toronto?

DOC-Bonino-Granlund
Carter

Dumo-Tang
Pet-Pet
POJ-Rutta
Kulikov-Rude Beetle

It's as good of a plan as any.

I think they got Kuli so they don't have to rely on PO.

If they interviewed FGMJR immediately after Allvin he would talk about the half dozen offers he got for JT Miller.

I thought it was known that Ty Smith was hurt on like....Monday? He was labeled as week to week prior to the deadline, I know that.

No, because Granlund is a 3 on his JFresh report card

I give Hextall a B- for this trade deadline. The team is better than it was a week ago. It's hard (and costly) to rebuild the bottom 6 at the trade deadline.. but most of the rebuilding was because of bad contracts that he handed out, so no points for him there. I still think, barring some unexpected playoff run in which all of his acquisitions play amazing, that he needs to go at season's end.
